His point is Sandy, if Ledley King had’ve produced his best performances week in week out, over the duration of his whole career - he would be viewed as truly one of the greats.

However due to injuries it would only be spurs fans holding King in regard of the best CBs to have played in the prem years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

My point was mate even if he did replicate his performances over a longer career, he still would not be our best ever by a long way in that position. A very decent player as I said, but not really one if our greats.

I rate Allison and Ederson, they are both top class modern goalkeepers.

However I also have had the experience of watching some great goalkeepers down the years.

Jennings, Bonetti, Southall, Banks, Shilton, Seaman etc...............strangely Hart looked as though he was going to be a great keeper and then it sort of fizzled out.

For those of you who never saw Pat Jennings in action, he was actually a keeper who caught the ball in midair.......rarely dropped, also had massive hands and famed for catching it one handed🖐

Ledley KIng played with a congenital bone defect. He trained in swimming pools, not on the pitch.
Even so, England took him to the World Cup in South Africa knowing he could not play two games in a row.
He was the finest RB of his generation.

Sandy... your memory is failing you!
You are old enough to have seen the great Ted Ditchburn play, perhaps at the end of his career.

In my young days at WHL there were two of the greatest GKs to ever play the game on the same pitch, Ted Ditchburn at the Spurs end and Bert Trautmann OBE at the Manchester City end.
The two of them competed in all manner of antics in the pre-game warmups, each trying to outdo the other swinging from the bar with somersaults, etc..

Ted Ditchburn was a PT instructor during WWII.
Bert Trautmann was a captured German Paratrooper with an astounding escape record. He took up goalkeeper in a prisoner of war camp outside Manchester. City took him on when the war ended.
He is famous for finishing the 1956 FA Cup final with a broken neck:

Ted, I only ever saw Ted Ditchburn play one game for Spurs, in the reserves at the end of his career. He was however a great favourite of my Dad, along with Alf Ramsey, Billy Nicholson, Harry Clarke, Les Medley, Les Bennett, the Duke, etc.

Sandy ...that was one hell of a Spurs team, captained by Ron Burgess. Len Duquemin ran a Newsagent shop near WHL after he retired. I used to know fans who went in there and bought sweets, just to chat with Len.
Greatest ever Spurs team, second Div and First Div champions in successive years!
