Freedom to roam forward and cover in behind him. Also allowed to focus on long range passing out where there was a good spot for it

Never felt secure watching him in just a back 2

And, What's that got to do with it, I'm talking about the here and now, David Luiz has been average for the last couple of years, Whereas Harry Maguire has been one of the best defenders in the Premier League this season.
