Early Days, But The Games Were Awful

I thought last night's games were awful spectacles. Well done to Sky for trying to create some kind of atmosphere with the fake fan noise, but it just did not work for me.

The games really had a pre-season friendly feel about them.

It will be interesting to see how I feel when I watch Spurs tomorrow. Maybe having a vested interest in the game will make me forget about the sterile nature of the atmosphere and enjoy the game more? Who knows.

One thing's for sure, I feel really sorry for the teams that will be battling against relegation. There will be zero home advantage and the repercussions for the teams that go down will be immense.

Don't get me wrong, missing out on European football is quite important too; particularly the CL, but relegation is far more serious.

The sooner this season comes to an end the better, so that we can regroup for the new season and find (safe) ways of allowing fans back into the stadiums so that real football can resume.

Myself personally I will only watch our games but each to their own and this mini season will get folk used to the behind closed doors for next season IMO

Morning
Looking forward to tomorrow’s game?

yes mate.

teeing off at 9am, should be good

Love it
I played a nice round yesterday evening
Well when I say nice that describes the course and weather
We won’t mention the golf
How many are playing?

We had 3 playing last night and from the end of the month it will be up to 4 allowed

Don’t see the issue, we get to laugh at Arsenal still

Look, football isn’t the same without fans. The quicker we get fans back into the stadium, the better as far as I’m concerned. Hopefully it won’t be next year and we will see some sort of normality at the beginning of next season, but for now we just don’t need to suck it up and enjoy the football. I for one am glad footy is back.

4 of us, we've had 4 balls going out for a couple of weeks now. Playing two match play matches for the club matchplay league. then the normal weekly comp on Sunday morning too.

the old man managed 3 holes last night before the heavens opened.

Good summary OP.

I didn't enjoy it until David Luiz came on

The villa game would have been awful under any circumstances. The City game was better, and I did let out a cheer when they scored. The lack of fans leave a huge hole in the enjoyment of viewing though and I'll certainly be watching less football than previously because of it.

I'm interested to see how the cricket goes. Crowd plays a far smaller part and many 5th day test matches are in front of nobody, but still a good watch. Hoping that will be better.

I think it was probably because people were watching a game they usually wouldn’t watch (Sheff Utd vs Villa). I thought the Arsenal City game was great.

I actually enjoyed the football last night even though the first game seemed a bit off the pace, it was very much back to normality.
