Dean Henderson

I know he can't play against us on Wednesday due to the loan agreement we have with Sheffield Utd, I want him to stay with them for one more season, Especially if they're in the Europa League next season as well, He's been the best keeper in the Premier League this season in my opinion, I've said for over a year that he's good enough to play for us, And if he continues his good form, He'll be in the England squad soon as well.

We still don't know if he has the mentality to play for a big club. He could just be another Ben Foster.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How do we know if anyone has that mentality though? Most of our signings post SAF have failed at the bigger club that is United.

What we do know however is that the keeper we do have is costing us goals-aplenty.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought Fred was going to be another one of these, but he's managed to turn it around.

As for Henderson, we'll only know once we've seen him play games for us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Still don’t think Fred is good enough to be starting. He often makes lazy passes, silly fouls and his first touch is often a tackle. More importantly, he just doesn’t seem to have a great footballing brain. A good and dynamic all rounder.

He’s proven that he could be a good squad player, for sure. Maybe if he keeps on improving he’ll prove me wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree his ability isn't great. But he at least managed to turn things around. He was hopeless when he first came here. It was looking like we would have to get rid, but now he's a good squad player. It takes him some time to build his form though.

Yeah, we’ll see how things pan out. I think outside of Fernandes and Pogba all of our midfielders have their downfalls. I’d like to offload Pereira and Matic, then bring in a real quality defensively midfielders, we’d be sorted then.

But then there’s CB, LB, RW, ST....think Ole has done a good job so far.

I’m not often right but I did call it with DDG and that new contract.

to be fair i was thinking earlier that i remember you saying that it would be relatively easy to replace our GK, and that would free up funds to invest elsewhere, and we would improve overall.

you didn't call his decline as a player, but got the right answer anyway. and frankly that would have made a hell of a difference, we'd have brought in £70m, and saved ourselves 2 years of mediocre performances.

as it is, i think he is probably now unshiftable.

I can't remember what I said yesterday, let alone at the time of the last contract renewal, but I've always felt pretty ambivalent about DDG. He's not a modern goalkeeper in terms of his broader skill set, and to make up for that, he needs to be consistently amazing in the core goal-stopping part of his game. I suspect the limitations in terms of commanding his box, distribution, sweeping up, marshalling the defence have both magnified the deficiencies of our defenders and restricted the viability of playing certain systems over the years. It's not just about the gaffes.

Guess I'm late to the 'party', but I'm more than happy with Henderson staying on loan for another year.

de Gea has definitely had a bad season, it is sadly a bit more than a patch, but we must remain confident that he will shine through.

Henderson needs as much first team as possible, and playing in the Champions League / Europa League, Cup competitions is not enough for his development if he was to re-join us.

We're not sacking de Tea and giving him a season off.

manager in "overpraises own player" shocker.

but thanks for that, did he say anything else interesting in his press conference? none of the united fans on here have covered it, so it would be useful to know what else you read.
