Attacking play leaves a lot to be desired. It's not just crossing, he just doesn't look that comfortable on the ball in general.

I also think his defensive ability is overstated. He's a great tackler, but gets caught out positionally a fair bit. Luke Shaw on the other side is a better defender IMO.

The defensive side of his game can and probably will improve. Not so sure about the attacking.

I'm genuinely surprised about that, He's improved on his attacking to be fair to him.

I think, like many fullbacks, he used to be a winger too.
Going forward he does remind me of Valencia.

What I’ve never understood is why can’t more fullbacks replicate the way Becks used to play. Maybe not with the exact level of execution but somewhere closer to it. Becks generally didn’t have to beat a man, he’d just put in a nice curling cross (he would do it on a six pence tbf) into the box, why can’t these players do similar, not the same, but similar? Surely if they practiced doing that for an hour after training every day they’d be much improved.

G Nev was an example of someone who practised that and was able to deliver a cross without beating a man.

Partly because very few players have the skill to put on pinpoint crosses like him. He was exceptional.

A bargain that seems like a leap. A steady first year, i think he will eventually pay that fee off though.

He clearly has been a bargain, He's been excellent for us, Especially in the big games for us as well.

At least half of that OP isnt true.

Filled a problem position for Utd though.

Yeah he was.

It's not a wonder that he moved further back.

Don’t remember many laughing at the fee at all. He’s been good but still has plenty of room to improve.
