It's strange to be on the other side of that marker but its also made me realise something that I’d not considered.. The journey itself.
30 years have gone by. In one sense, it has felt like an eternity. In another, it's the blink of an eye. I'm sure some Arsenal fans are starting to feel that too.
We've had to watch on as Ferguson put a stranglehold on the English game. As Wenger showcased his brilliant flowing Arsenal sides. As Chelsea became a super power - almost overnight. As a new dawn of domestic dominance by Manchester City threatened to leave everyone else in their wake - and even a miracle by Leicester City.
As for us - well, mostly average with the odd season of brilliance. Only to be deprived of glory by incredible achievements or freak incidents - United breaking the clean sheet record, the slip and of course, 97 points.
It started to feel like a cruel script - the writer dangling the carrot tantalisingly closer with every new opportunity that presented itself.
But like any good story, the final payoff is often only as good as the road that took you to the promised land.
When I close my eyes and ponder on the last 3 decades, I see a flood of images, Souness and Mr Liverpool himself Ronnie Moran with his famous whistle from the sidelines. Neil Ruddock heading the equaliser against United, a young lad called Fowler who took to finishing like a duck to water, Collymore closing in, Steven Gerrard leading us to glory, Garcia drinking Sangria, Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez and a million more.
30 years without the top domestic title should be punishing but it really wasn't. We've been blessed with great memories, unforgettable matches and some brilliant players - and lets be honest, our trophy haul over the last 30 years is still pretty impressive for what are considered to have been barren years
So to Graeme Souness, Roy Evans, Gerard Houllier, Rafael Benitez, King Kenny, Brendan Rodgers and yes, even you Roy Hodgson - because you can't really appreciate the highs until you've experienced the lows.
Thank you for the journey, thank you for the memories.
As for Klopp - Well turns out he was the one. A European Cup and Premier League title in four years. Only one other manager has achieved that whilst managing in the PL and it took the other 13 years. It's fair to say that Jurgens place in Anfield folklore is well and truly sealed.
Jurgen Klopp - Couldn't be prouder to call him 'our' manager.
