Our passing is lethargic..

slow under Poch and slow under Jose. Do our players not know what one touch football is?

Was watching videos of Jose's rapid counter attacking Madrid team. Players got their heads up early and played the ball into space along the floor not HOOFball.

Someone (Sacramento) needs to get hold of the midfielders and get them doing one touch drills to release Son and Bergwijn early.

Is football really as hard as we are making it look?

one thing i find about our passing is that its never just ahead of the player to force him to move onto it and put natural momentum in the attack. its always to feet, and often to the wrong foot so the player cant naturally open up.

compare that to when Liverpool knock it about. ball from centre back to full back will be just ahead of them so they can stride onto it and inject pace into the attack. once you have that and a bit of movement ahead you can turn mundane passing at the back into a progressive attack.

should be easy to solve if the players have the ability.

Sissoko is a huge problem in our team.

People like to say how good he is because he runs a lot and covers players but if you have a player in the center of the pitch that can’t take the ball under pressure, can’t make simple passes and definitely can’t thread a pass forward then you can see why we struggle.

So many times you see players look up see him in space and he’s pointing to pass it to someone else.

Sooner we get a better player in that position the better.

we have too many squad players that start

Sissoko
Winks
Davies
Dier
Lucas
Aurier

that's a 5-man shopping list.I'm hoping Sissoko magic happens with Ndombele and solves the DM/CM issue.

DM
CM
LB
RB
CB

Add a striker to that list

The biggest struggle I have with him is how he always hides from the ball when the defenders have it. If Winks isn’t looking to take it off Davies/Dier etc (I actually thought the fullbacks did a really poor job looking for a Winks who was continually free) then there is nobody to pass to. I also don’t think this is a Mourinho tactic as it was never a Poch tactic either but Sissoko always his then as well.

I think we need to wait.

Im not making excuses but the lack of a crowd is hampering the football.

I think the groaning would of been so bad Jose would of been forced to try other things. We are playing very safe which is why we are so lethargic.

I look at the squad and obviously it needs refreshing but we have great attackers, one of the best forwards in the world arguably the best in the league, a world cup winning keeper.

We should be doing better. The real test crowd or no crowd is sunday. We should beat Arsenal however dreadful we are we have better players all across the pitch and our boys should be up for it with intensity in tackles annd the passing.

Totally agree, can`t fault Sissoko`s work rate and commitment but he should only be a squad utility man for us, we need a better player as a first choice.

He kills so many of our attacks by always playing the simple pass sideways or backwards, instead of a quick incisive pass forwards. He lacks the confidence so always takes the easy option, which hinders us going forward. He always fluffs his lines when in sight of goal.

He does have his uses and does vital covering work in defence, but we need better imo.
