YOU’VE GOTTA BE SERIOUSLY JOKING

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53320082

Look, I know racism exists and that there are still issues concerning race within our society

But c’mon, to try and suggest the reason behind the Grenfell Tower tragedy was something to do with inequality, to somehow blame it on race or racism, well that’s just ridiculous

We’ll be told next that is was the fault of a β€˜white’ fridge that caused the fire

I’m all for wanting equality and to stamp out racism in our society, but those who make such statements like that in the above link, do nothing to support their cause

In fact they tend to create more resistance and apathy rather than support

Oh and I didn’t want to point it out but there were 96 victims not ‘97 deaths’

I thought the 97th died some years later?

As regards the OP.

I believe there's hundreds of similar buildings up and down the country with similar cladding to grenfell.

Most of these buildings are in private hands, some are new builds and residents in these buildings are left with massive bills to replace the cladding.Grenfell were the unlucky ones who paid the price, but to say they got substandard cladding because those that lived there were mostly immigrants is just wrong on all levels.

Yes there was some 22 years later. But in reality there were many more indirect deaths of survivors, family members and friends without a doubt.

As I posted the very same disaster was narrowly averted in 1981, with 38 Spurs fans injured at the same stadium in the same stand. The stadium played a huge part in Hillsborough. That’s not to discount the role of Duckenfield, the piece of shiite, not the police under his control, misinformed ambulance staff after the fact etc.

....and too many Liverpool supporters gatecrashing the stadium once the gates were opened

All those factors played a part in the disaster

It wasn’t just one element

Just like race or racism isn’t responsible for the Grenfell Tower disaster

Filthy building, cladding, poor firefighter response, a fire 75 foot up in the air...they are all factors

The fact that some black people were killed does not mean that was a factor in the fire doing what it did

“and too many Liverpool supporters gatecrashing the stadium once the gates were opened”

Just coincidence the same thing happened in 81 with Spurs fans minus the death?

As I say it was a coming together of many factors

It wasn’t JUST
The police
The supporters
The ground
The occasion
The incompetence
etc etc

It wasn’t RACE that had anything to do with the Grenfell Tower fire either

Didn’t say it was just.....

The state of the stadium, Leppings Lane in particular, was a huge factor given the incident in 81.

Re: Grenfell, I don’t think the solicitor representing families has said it was just a race issue. He says that he feels it was a contributing factor along wider disparities between poor and rich areas and race being linked.

That’s total crap

Are you saying if the Grenfell Tower was full of white people, it wouldn’t have ever happened?

Trying to bring race into this tragedy is just desperate and pretty pathetic really

But hey, that’s freedom of direct in action
