With the season coming to a close I wanted to do a round up for the guys who broke into the team this year
James- took a while to get into the team but seemed to establish himself once he did, struggled since the return but his quality is there to see. Still makes mistakes defensively which hopefully he will iron out with experience but can grow into a real attacking threat for us in years to come.
Next season is probably a straight battle between him and azpilicueta which I think he should come out on top of.

Tomori - started well and looked very good but defensive mistakes and injuries seem to have ruled him out for a large part of the season, currently seems to be 4th choice. He still has great qualities to be a top centre back such as his pace but looks like he needs to win back lampards trust and cut out the mistakes.
Next season- difficult one, there has been talk of him going back out on loan to gain more experience in the prem, talk of us looking to sign a new centre back but also looking to cash in one one of ours, probably zouma. I personally think he could still be in the squad come the start of next season.

Gilmour - a couple of eye catching performances followed by a couple of not so eye catch in ones. Clearly a very very talented footballer and trusted by lampard. Can only see him getting better with experience.
Next season is probably a straight scrap with kante for the holding role in our current 4-3-3 setup. But with kantes current injury record it's more than possible he gets plenty of minutes

Mount - Frank's most used player this season and obviously one he likes alot, early season goals and assists seem to have dried up but what hasn't is he work ethic. When he doesn't play the whole side looks lethargic, his energy is infectious across the team and if he can add some end product to his game I think he'll be a mainstay of the side.
Next season - I feel like alot depends on the Havertz deal as I they could be after the same midfield spot, if we don't get the deal done I expect mount to feature heavily again next season, if we do get the deal done I'm not so sure.

RLC- can't really comment as he's missed the majority of the season with injury, but again the talent is unquestionable. A very unique player and brings something different to pretty much every one of our midfielders.
Next season I think as always with him it depends on fitness, if he's fit and firing I think he makes all the match day squads but I'm not sure about being a regular starter.
CHO - bit like RLC in that it's hard to comment as he missed alot of the season, but the times he has played he hasn't looked great in my opinion, seems to be trying way too hard and forcing it. Off the field issues probably hasn't helped his recent form and when lampard speaks about him you can see a frustrated manager, as I'm sure he knows just how good he can be.
Next season he has plenty of competition on ziyech and pulisic, but hopefully a full pre season, competition for places and abit of a fresh start sees him reach his potential.

Tammy - scored plenty of goals in the first half of the season and his effort and energy, similarly to mount was a huge driving force in why we did so well. A slight dip in form, injury and then an extended lay off doesn't seem to have helped him and currently lost his starting spot. Not sure how much the contract situation is playing on his mind but could really do with a good end to the season.
Next season he has a massive challenge on his hand with werner coming in, I personally think he could leave the following summer as I can't see him wanting to sit on the bench. But there are plenty of players who rise to competition and we'll have to see if tammy is one of them.

Not to me. He doesn't anticipate the danger well enough, an issue shielded by Conte's back 3 in 17/18 & partnering with Luiz making him look good by comparison last year.
He's got redeeming qualities (what sets him apart from Bakayoko) but I wouldn't wanna see him in the first XI long enough. Squad player I'd be fine with.
