Daniel Levy overrated?

The man has done a pretty good job on building the infrastructure of the club but really what else? Even that was vastly overbudget. The stadium was to cost around £400m and ended up double that. Figures anywhere between £750m-£1,000m are believed to have been incurred on final analysis.

Yes it is one of the best stadiums around so expectedly hyped but it won't be forever. Chelsea are looking to build a new stadium and so will other clubs around Europe which will end up being the very best.

He has benefitted from being in Tottenham. London in general is the wealthiest city in the UK and one of the most in the world. Real estate value holds and increase more so than most places you can think of. Any sensible chairman would be taking that opportunity.

The reputation he has with transfer dealings is also overrated. He made a few good deals like Van der Vaart and it is those which end up covering the shambolic deals elsewhere. Bale being sold was lauded as brilliant business from Daniel but it's not unique at all. Look at Dembele to Barcelona, Coutinho to Barcelona - those are actually elite moves by Dortmund and Liverpool. Then there is panicking into £30m for Sissoko in the final hour for instance. Squandering the Bale money on the likes of Stambouli. Of course, nobody gets it right 100% of the time so that's okay but he is given too much credit in this department.

It worked better when we were mid-table and there was less TV money which meant you could use the vulnerable position of clubs like Villa or Southampton to get their players but not any more. Just like Mourinho has been left behind in managerial terms so has Daniel Levy in transfers.

He does not know how to act like a big club. Instead wanting to sell high and buy low consistently. This does not work when you want to challenge for trophies consistently. Look at Liverpool shelling out massive sums on VDV and Allison. Two players can have a much more significant impact than spending £110m on a bunch of average joes or those with potential 10 years down the line.

I look around at other clubs and he hasn't really done much better than most top chairmen. Too early to say but even the likes of Everton are looking to build a new stadium and invest in players. I would not be surprised to see them win a trophy sooner than Spurs and they're not very good right now either.

The man deserves credit where credit due but so overrated. ENIC needs to make their profit and sell on. There is a middle ground between being prudent and going bust. He just cannot find it.

A guy that starts attacking people’s family on here and misses clearly has nothing going for him. Look at his posting history, about 6 posts in a few months, so clearly signed up from another account. Sad fat ugly c** with a kn. ob the size of a button mushroom.

I don't know why we'd listen to a Liverpool fan's opinion on our chairman anyway?

Best you pop off to Anfield, Don.

He would only go to Anfield if he knew someone who had a free ticket Bales. He’s definitely one of the Liverpool fans on here, doubt many of them have been to Anfield either

Apparently a plane with a banner saying "Levy out" will be visible Sunday. Does feel like fans are turning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That would be disgraceful if true. And any decent Spurs fan should be distancing themselves from that sort of nonsense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s a long time coming Sandy. We agree on certain things, but we mostly don’t agree on Levy. He deserves all the stick coming his way. I hope the fans protest next season to.

Don, I won't personally, never have and never will.

Levy is Joe Lewis's front man.
This club is managed as a financial investment. And its supposed to produce ....MONEY ....for ENIC.

Unfortunately that costly new stadium that was supposed to bring in lots a revenue from you fans...is now sitting empty gathering debt from the interest payments.

So anyone who thinks Lewis is going to okay spending on either new players or a new coach, is simply deluded.

The very best thing that can happen now is that Lewis decides to sell out, and cut his losses. He has done that before when investments went south.

Here's hoping for new owners!

Don does have an unhealthy obsession with Varpool, but on overall balance he is a Spurs fan imo.

So he just about scrapes in

Is he a complete berk? IMO he's definitely a berk.

They had that long period when they didn't. Never got near the big trophies either, just the FA Cup while sliding down the table. That's better than nothing but ultimately not where you want to be.
