When 2/3 of your back 3 have an abysmal showing as Kolasinac and Mustafi (multiple times today) have done, you are screwed. Add to the fact that we have no creativity in the middle of the park, we are suddenly in a position where we have possession but it is backwards and sideways mostly. On balance of play...and as much as I hate to admit it, spurs deserved the win based on chances created and rarely looking too bothered at the back.
We have a BIG BIG rebuilding job on hand. We need a solid CB and we need an Ozil replacement ASAP to help move away from this drab style of play.
We have dropped TWENTY ONE points from winning positions this season. That is insane. Speaks to a bad combo of not being able to kill games off, lacking creativity in the middle, lacking a shield for the defense and of course...a horrible CB showing multiple times.
After all that...I ain't even mad. Liverpool next...we are not making Europe next season...which could be a blessing in disguise. Hoping Saliba is good ( but he is 19...cant carry this defense), we get Upamecano or someone of his calibre..or next season will be a long one.
In positive news...martinez looks better than Leno and that is a feat!

No, shot-stopping & distribution/kicking Leno is better. Aerial presence and handling of high balls Martinez is better.

We defend better as a unit now, but today shows that with a lot of our defenders you can organise them as well as you like, but they’ll still make bizarre decisions that cost you games. Our whole back 3 are very brain fart players, having so many of these defenders is asking for trouble

Exactly. We are set up very well based on our glaring weaknesses and not being able to play a back four. But afck my life...the amount of individual errors is amazing! Mustafi has looked solid but you cant fully trust him. The number of mistimed driving in and getting spun or losing the opponent wa insane. Kolasinac has been solid but that lack of concentration...he is a makeshift CB at best.Then you have Luiz who has given FOUR penalties this season and just looks bad whenever under the least amount of pressure...

Yeah I think unless we clear a lot of these players out it’s going to be hard to stop these issues. It’s been quite remarkable that mustafi has looked better recently, but he’s always got that mistake in him. Same with all of them
Need to address how our team can’t maintain more than 5mins of good play at a time as well. Each game is 5mins of great play, score or miss some good chances, then it’s followed by a 15min slump.
