CAS Watch

Announcement on Man City's Champions League ban expected at 9:30am. Could be our last chance to qualify as the ban being upheld would mean that 5th place qualifies.

Whether we deserve to is another matter but it would mean that we are 4 points clear of Wolves with 3 games to go and with a much better goal difference.

Of course, if we play in the remaining 3 games like we did last night, we'll probably end up finishing 7th...

As far as I am aware. The tribunal were from Portugal, France and Germany. One appointed by each Party and the chairman appointed by the two arbitrators appointed by the parties.

Bent as fook.

Just checking Fish. So do you believe Manchester City haven’t broken any rules at all and you were so non-compliant with UEFA and hid accounts because you just didn’t like them snooping around?

I’m not disappointed this affects Leicester’s chances of getting in the champions league. We absolutely don’t deserve it.

But to suggest that you haven’t looked at some of the evidence leaked and think that you are innocent is laughable.

I agree with all those that suggest this basically nullifies FFP. Just set up multiple holding companies and invest as much money in your club as you like.

Maybe FFP is the problem, rather than the way you’ve exploited it.

It was from emails hacked by a convicted fraudster who had originally tried to blackmail us.

There’s a very good chance he altered them anyway

I'm not privy to all the details but clearly City have not acted appropriately on some level, hence the fine.

Is what it is.

FFP is a joke anyway. Nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to protect and maintain a monopoly for the cartel that is the G14.

I'll be interested to see how Top reacts to FFP being effectively null and voided. Will we start spending big to keep up with the bigger teams? Let's face it, it seems like a low risk strategy to me - FFP is toothless and even when you do get penalised, a good lawyer and a half decent deniability claim will get you off without a ban and a reduced fine. Where's the risk factor?

Though given how badly we have messed up under Rudkin in the past (Silvagate, anyone?), if we tried to bend the rules we'd probably end up with an £80m fine and a 10 year ban from all football competitions...

No disagreement here really. I think it does have some merit in protecting smaller clubs from the likes of mismanagement in the scale of Risdale, but at the top of the game, Welty owners don’t care how much money they lose. It’s part of the game for them.

As long as the long term futures of clubs are protected, I’m fine. But what happens to Man City if their owners leave, with massive burdens on players and wages and no sponsorship money to pay for it as that magically disappears with them.

Shame really.

Nothing happens. The club is debt free. All off the club's debt was underwritten prior to FFP.

Pretty sure the owners have put contingencies in place for such an event anyway.

Not something I have or ever will concern myself with.

Top doesn’t have the money to spend big. Leicester are in a fairly healthy situation but financially can’t compete with the established top 4 clubs. And without a better director of football and head of recruitment at the club, it would be a wasted exercise anyway. We essentially need to be sold to a very very wealthy consortium to have any chance of competing at the top

Mid table for us and to be honest, I’m starting to think that’s a preferable option to the boom and bust cycle we’ve been in for the last few years

I’m still a bit crestfallen from last night to be honest. I think like you BS I knew the game was up a long time ago, but to see it confirmed in such embarrassing fashion, like Foxello it does remind my of the Wycombe debacle.

It’s just hurting. We don’t deserve champions league. We don’t even deserve Europa League right now. But to see a team more than good enough to beat teams like Bournemouth and get the job done just capitulate in such fashion is still hurting.

I can’t help but feel that last night was a seminal moment for our club. It doesn’t feel like we’re building anymore, it felt like the moment we realised that everything was about to crumble.

I really hope that’s just a raw reaction to the last game. But right now I’m very very concerned.

I’ve been a lone voice on my concerns around how Leicester are building from a footballing perspective for years now. It’s a cycle of boom and bust - wholly reliant on which manager comes in at what point. The club has a very good scouting network and mostly gets its recruitment right, but they’ve been unable to build sustainably the Wolves are doing. Boom and bust isn’t the same as building a sustainable football club that can eventually compete near the top end of the table.

The reason for this is simply because the owners have never appointed football people to help them. Even in the days of Vichai, the completely inexperienced Rudkin was needlessly promoted way beyond his station. The result has been a string of mostly managerial mishaps, changes in direction and at times very expensive recruitment flops.

We’ve had one spectacular season which has papered over everything - it still does. The reality is that ever since the owners achieved promotion to the promised land, they’ve been like a kid in a sweet shop, overwhelmed and not focussed
