No Europa League

With City's ban cancelled, it is now extremely unlikely we will be playing in Europe next season.

In my lifetime I can't remember Arsenal not having a European competition to play for and unless a miracle happens in the FA Cup, that will finally change.

What impact do we reckon this will have on the club? Personally I think avoiding the Europa can only be a good thing for Arteta and this bang average squad. With the lack of quality or strength in depth, this team in my opinion is not ready to challenge for the Europa (as shown by our humiliating exit at home to Olympiakos) any time soon. The less games the better if you ask me.

Leicester, Chelsea and almost Liverpool (if not for Slippy G) have all won league titles in recent seasons that they have not been competing in Europe. Now not for one second am I saying we will even compete for the league next season, but if Arteta is really the man to take us forward, he has the perfect opportunity to capitalize on all the teams around us having hectic schedules. The likes of United, City, Chelsea and Wolves are still in Europe this year and basically will have 2 European competitions to play in next season.

If we can't get this transfer window and season right, we probably never will. We won't have a better opportunity to get back in the top 4.

I think usually Arsenal dropping out would be a good thing, but the decrease in revenue is more of a factor now than ever before

How would this be a good thing? You know very well how our club is run. We kill what we eat. Kroenke would never pay for a sandwich during a game, much less plough any cash into a squad rebuild.

If anything, he's currently in the process of literally rearranging the furniture in regard to our long-term debt commitments.

A decent run in the Europa will typically earn the club between £20-30m. Missing out on the upcoming campaign will only mean a bigger hole in Arsenal's books next year.

Which would only lead to ever more ludicrous two-bob short term measures by the clowns in charge.

We reduce the squad? Dont need a big squad.

Would the team with the best fair play record enter the qualification round? Arsenal won't for sure as they are sitting bottom with the worst disciplinary record.

And yet we're still seen as being a 'soft touch'.

Curious that, huh?

First you would have to ship out our entire medical/physio team for any of that to make sense.

Then the people in charge of repeatedly hiring quacks like these over and over.

But the medical team have done a good job of late

When was the last time a player was diagnosed as being out for a few weeks, only for it to turn into months?

Still an awfully low standard to judge them by. Especially for a club at this level.

The problem is the teams above us are looking to add quality as well as depth. Chelsea have already done that, and are still looking to do that. City will no doubt be splashing the cash especially now that their ban has been overturned - and their squad is already exceptional. United are without question going to spend big this Summer. Spurs are an unknown entity. However, man for man, I think they are slightly better than us anyway. Liverpool already have a top team as it is, but I'm sure they'll be looking to reinforce where possible.

Let's not forget the likes of Wolves, Everton and Leicester who will be looking to improve and spend fairly big chunks of cash too. Particularly as 2 of those 3 have recruited better than us and are a safe bet for European football.

So I don't think next season will be a great opportunity to get back into the top 4. We have the 'advantage' of playing less games, but the lack of quality in our team is the bigger obstacle.

No European football means less money which means less activity in the transfer market.

Even if we did get Europa football, I still couldn't envisage us spending much. Without Europa, we may well have to continue with the same players and hope our youth prospects turn good. Which is frightening to contemplate.

I don’t think Europa will have a huge impact on what we are going to spend on players, we’d have still be very tight even if we had Europa money. It doesn’t give you enough to totally change the amount you can spend on players. Obviously we’ll be getting less but the difference isn’t as big as missing out on the CL

Think of next season is a regrouping season using less matches and focusing on the domestics - no need for europe distraction in your situation - would be a good thing without for a season...this will allow arteta to strengthen the squad
