What Russian said. Latest I heard was that people who have had Covid, their antibodies disappeared within 3 months. Without a vaccine I don’t see how anybody can expect us to get to any sort of normality and a second (and subsequent) waves are inevitable.

The fact the same spike hasn’t occurred though after the beaches being packed/BLM protests is a pretty valid and important observation though.

I didn’t see people at the beach or BLM protests stood 30cm away from the same eight other people for 100mins at a time, all shouting and singing constantly.

At the BLM protests I saw, largely speaking, you had a degree of distancing going on and protesters wearing masks.

Beyond airborne transmission, I’ve never been to a game at OT at which I haven’t come into direct physical contact with numerous other people. Someone comes back from the toilet late for second half kickoff and they can come into physical contact with 20+ people on the way back to their seat.

Hundreds and hundreds of people are touching the same turnstiles, the same handrails, nobody is washing their hands in the bogs, people are jammed in queueing on the concourses at HT like you’re on the Tube.

I’m not saying you can’t open stadia again. I am saying you can’t reopen them at capacity, or close to half of it, and when it happens I expect staggered arrival times, masks, a lot of policing, closed concourses, etc.

How do we know that their hasn’t been an increase in cases since the BLM protests and the crowded beaches a la Bournemouth?

We are basing that off what we are being told. What the media are reporting the daily figures to be.

Can we trust those figures? As the reporting today regarding inflating covid deaths show us, maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to believe what we are told. That what we are told and what is actually happening are not the same?

One could easily suggest that in order to justify lockdown, figures were inflated.

And so in order to justify the easing of lockdown, could it possibly be that the figures are being downplayed?

People only need to look to Florida to see a potential glimpse into the future
