I've just noticed the ridiculous number of wingers we've been linked with recently, and while this could well just be paper talk I find it odd that they would link us with more wingers than say centre backs or holding midfielders which we quite obviously need more!
Alvarez, Oxlade-chamberlin, Gervinho, Hazard, Willian, Downing all linked with us the past few weeks with people stating that Gervinho, alvarez and AOC are all in the bag (though i don't believe any of it especially with the reports of city hijacking gervinho)
Of all of these signings the only one i really would question is Chamberlin we have boetelho, galindo, miyaichi, silva all the same age that would surely be given a chance i can't understand how 12 million pounds on a 17 year old winger is a good use of our supposed limited transfer kitty!
Obviously with Nasri potentially leaving a winger would be needed to replace and i think we all said we needed someone anyway, but unless wenger is planning to move to 4-4-2 and move arshavin and walcott up top into their natural positions i can't see us signing more than 2 wide men and thats if nasri leaves. Personally i hope the 2 lille wide boys come in i think wenger should just give em the money and be done with it as reportedly with gervinho the longer we haggle over a few thousand pound in wages a couple of million on the transfer price the more chance someone else has to come in and get their first. For those who are complaining about the gervinho signing i'd ask would you prefer him or another season of vela/bendtner/rosicky and if the answers gervinho then frankly its a good piece of business for 10 million quid!

Arsenal have no wingers at the club, Nasri and Arshavin 'prefer' to play centrally. Walcott is a natural striker and so is Bendtner. Gervinho is direct with good pace, he is more likely to beat a full-back rather than nasri or arshavin.
News on the Gervinho is that we might pull out due to the ridiculous transfer fee Lille are placing on him, if it raises to £15m I doubt we will sign him.

we have silva? - who is he, havent heard of a silva in the arsenal team yet?
i get what your sayin gbut signing this guy means we can stick walcott up front more, esp seeing as myiachi cant play in england yet, perdro is a LW and not sure if galindo is gunna get a work permit - lets put it this way tho, its likely to see the end of rosicky and potentially arshavin (but id like to hold on to the latter, just because he hasnt been as bad as people made him out to be this season)
id say sign him and see how well he does in the first team - if he struggles loan him out
competition is normally a good thing and besides if hes quick itll be good as it means we may actually be able to counter attack

I just wish wenger would speed up with his transfers, we should already have gervinho in the bag, we've left it too long city have joined in and thats why the price has gone up, if wenger did a fergie for once and just got on with his transfers

We all know what situation will occur with chamberlain, if we don't sign him he will go to United and become a world-star then fans will go mad and say we should of spent that extra 1 or 2 mill.
The silva guy i am sure is wellington but he can't play for us until another 2 years anyway.

I was meaning wellington yes And vermaelen you've got it spot on but if our transfer kitty is limited I'd rather go for positions that need strengthening now as opposed to gamble on the future this window anyway
