Lampard has just been such a reactionary manager. And not even in a quick manner. Hes slow to adapt and it doesn't seem he does his homework before a match. There are simple simple things he could have done before kick off that would've made this result a lot more beneficial for us.

Liverpool had zero to play for. We made it easy for them.

He's a rookie manager. What happened to us say at the start of the season, "He'll make mistakes"?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
That hasn't changed Brummie. But what improvement or learning have you seen from him or our club this season? You should expect some kind of improvement right? Thats not too demanding especially at a club of our stature.

We are in a decent position and thats not being ignored but what from Lampard has been inspiring to you in game?

He’ll be a very good coach, it’s a big stage to still be learning on and there’s a few fine margins. He also hasn’t quite got the tools he needs yet.

hmm, i'd say he has quite a lot of tools at the club

Most of that defence and GK need replacing asap.
Kepa has the worst record of saves in this league.
The two CB's and Alonso are playing like Sunday league players.

think i read elsewhere that kepa has let in 11 goals from the last 14 shots he has faced, and that he is having a historically bad season in terms of saves made (and really historically bad, as in one of the worst seasons since records began).

no idea if that is true, but it does suggest that you could easily be 10-15 points better off just by buying a semi-competent keeper.

Yawn, Lamps and Jody and co have been marvelous in introducing youth players, and challenging for 4th which no one really expected, didnt have a window so he had to work with what he inherited to go with losing one of the best players on the planet, all in his first year in the premier, so I really dont understand your constant agenda with how season has gone

who here wouldn't have taken playing the last game at home and win/draw we qualify for cl at the beginning of the season?

You should concentrate on improving the defence.

Rudiger is a good defender but the others are very average. Defence wins you titles and trophies.

Lampard is a good coach but lacks the game management to change tactics during games.

I agree with Legend Osgood, this team is a work in progress, and I trust Frank and Jodie to take us forward.

The defence that started was the same defence that started against United save one change, the keeper.

I believe that was the correct thing to do, you don't change a winning team as the saying goes. "But what about the keeper?" I hear you cry, and rightly so. Well that was to be expected too, it has become practice to play reserve keepers in cup games so you expect your first choice keeper to start in a league game. Sadly I think Kepa let us down last night, I hate to see a player fail but I think he has, now he may go onto be the best keeper in the world but he isn't ready for the starting role at Chelsea right now. I had my doubts whilst hoping I was wrong and backing him to perform but sadly there was an incident I witnessed last night that drained my hope almost entirely. This is how a reporter recorded it:

With Chelsea 5-3 down in injury time, the Spaniard stayed rooted to his line as Andrew Robertson's free-kick flashed across the six-yard box.

While Virgil Van Dijk spooned the chance over at the back post, a number of Chelsea players were heard bellowing Kepa's name as they pleaded with their keeper to come and claim the cross.

Captain Cesar Azpilicueta was spotted gesturing at his compatriot while several other Blues angrily reacted towards their stopper's lack of action.

Would it have been any different with Willy in goal? No one can say for sure but what I will say is that our three goals showed that even Liverpool's defence can be got at with their defenders running into each other for one goal and allowing Pullisic to run past three of them for another, also I think if Alonso was more positive we could have created more chances. If he can't see a clear path for a ball off of his left peg he looks to play it into space with his right, and that generally means it goes back to the centre circle at least breaking down promising attacks.

I really don't think we are that far away from having a decent team and challenging, three more decent buys, a keeper, a left back and a central defender should be enough. Also.i thought our front three of Pullisic, Cho and Tammy did as well if not better than our starting front three and they weren't to shoddy.
