Will the kroenkes finally be forced to give in and give Mikel a decent budget this window. I don’t see how they have any other choice , if we have another season like this with a similar squad we are just going to fall further and further behind. I think Leeds will do a Wolves, they have looked very impressive, very fit team. Bielsa knows the market well. So the quality of team coming up makes the league stronger and tougher. Every team above us will strengthen significantly. Chelsea about to bring in Havertz already added Ziech and Werner. Pulisic looks a player.
I like to think that Arteta has the backing of the owners after his comments. Surely they back him or we freefall. 10th place is completely unacceptable for this club but the reality is we will be begging for 10th if this underachieving is allowed to continue by the owners.
Do we have any choice but to spend?

Arsenal virtually have goalkeepers and strikers world class. Midfield and defence is league 2 standard.

Wrong. Our defence is not that bad, they need a bit more protection from midfield and they can do a job still. Not top 4 quality, but not as bad as you claim.

Only Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Norwich City have faced more shots on target than Arsenal. Arsenal have also attempted the 6th from least amount of shots in the league. This is by far the worst Arsenal side in PL history. You can win games with individual talent but in terms of domination, Arsenal are easily outplayed.

Just to put it in to perspective Man Utd attempted 163 shots and 88 shots on target more than we have faced.
Arsenal faced 138 shots and 42 on target more than than they attempted.
So they are 301 shots and 130 on target worse than Man Utd in domination this season.

If this is in response to my comment youre still wrong. Midfield is where we are losing games, thats why I didnt defend them, only the defence. I think all our problems stem from midfield. They are involved in creating chances and protecting the defence and buying them tiume, neither of which they do.
You have also shown a lock of understanding on our gk's as well. Leno is a world class shot stopper, but not world class on the build up play. Emi, who has come in for him, is world class on the build up play and long range shots but not on shot stopping (from close range shots only). If we could combine the best of these to we would have the best gk in the world.

I doubt it.
Villa shots 8, on target 7. Us 7, 0.
Us 3,2. Liverpool 24,8 (and we still won, lol)
Totteringham 15,9. Us 13, 4
Thats the last 3 games with stats on the arsenal website.
But what this doesnt tell you is any info about the shots. One thing we have really improved on is pushing the shots we face further out. With Leno in goal a lot more of the shots were close to the goal, now with Emi organising the defence he has them doing a better job so the shots we face are further out.

Yes, we’ve established that Arsenal cannot compete in the transfer market with United for players. Few clubs in world football can.
But that’s different to claiming you hardly spend. I can’t believe this needs explaining.

It's not a spending issue, many of United's newer talent are coming up through the ranks! Does Arsenal have a decent academy? Does it have decent talent scouts? Let's forget the spending issue and start developing talent that will be around for 10 years or more!
