Saudi's stand down Newcastle takeover

A Saudi Arabia-led consortium has withdrawn its bid to buy Newcastle United. The consortium, led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and also involving Amanda Staveley and the Reuben Brothers, has been waiting for months for the Premier League to decide whether to give the takeover the go-ahead.

The decision will come as a huge blow to many Newcastle fans, who had hoped the consortium would buy out the unpopular owner, Mike Ashley. But it will be welcomed by other fans, and campaigners, who have pointed to human rights abuses by the Saudi regime.

Ashley lives to fight another day.

On a serious note, good facking riddance. There's more than enough dodgy owners in this league, we don't need the scuuumbags who up until last year didn't even let women get behind a wheel.

And in other news, the leader of FIFA has had criminal proceedings opened against him. Just another normal day in football.

Just clocked that story myself. Mental, if not exactly surprising. FIFA and corruption, who'd have thought it.

We don't dismember our journalists but we're not exactly innocent when it comes to war/killing etc. Like I said there's so much we don't know about because our officials maybe better at hiding things than the Saudi's
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Saudi's love to drop little bombs on small Yemeni children and women for fun, dismember journalists, stone/behead adulterers and let child rapists run scot free.

As scuummmy as British and the US governments are, at least they have a small bit of human decency in them.

Both are as decent as each other. As I said the crimes the British have committed are as bad as Saudi. You have to remember, Saudi Arabia took is modern form in 1930's or something like that. There's only so much wrong they could have done in that time. Britain have been around for centuries. The crimes the British government committed in India alone is worse than what Saudi have done. I'm not saying Saudi havent done much. I'm just putting it into perspective.

Britain and most Western nations have progressed from their empire and colonial past, the Saudi's haven't yet and it's 2020.

Newcastle heading into lockdown as we speak.

It's only been 90 odd years since it was founded in its present form. What's to say they won't progress? The British didn't change overnight did they? It took them centuries to take a few steps in the right direction.

I have to say, being a regular visitor to Saudi (every two months for work related issues), they have changed a lot in a short amount of time. There's still a lot to do but it's encouraging to see the difference.

Newcastle fans had wet dreams over Neymar, Mbappe and Lingard signing for them.

Lingard STOP!

In hindsight, how could we all have been so naive to think that this deal could muster a 14-vote premier league majority?

I'm sure the PL clubs are all still smarting from allowing in the other State-funded project at City.

Every other prospective investor with insanely deep institutional pockets can expect similar shiithousery from the other PL clubs from now on.
