Take a bow
A lot has been said about the money spent on Van Dijk, Alisson & Keita but just look at the money brought in by Mr Edwards
Jordan Ibe £15m - 1 goal & 3 assists in 41 appearances
Joe Allen £13m - Last year of his contract
Christian Benteke £27m - 3 goals in his final 23 appearances
Mamadou Sakho £26m - Disciplinary issues demoted to the reserves
Dominic Solanke £19m - 1 goal in 27 appearances
Danny Ings £20m - 25 appearances in 3 years playing under 1000mins
Danny Ward £12.5m - 3 appearances
That’s £132.5m brought in from what was deadwood. You could argue Ings was a bargain for Southampton but he was marred with injuries in his time with us

We should've got at least £40m for Ings

nope.
sorry but southampton took a half fit crock on loan and set the price to buy then. they took the risk and it paid off.
just cos he's done what he could have done 5 years ago before being crocked doesnt mean there was a queue forms to take him on.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but for me he fit klopps style of play more than origi ever would. Granted origi has went on to score some legendary goals for the club and will go down as a bit of a cult hero but I do wish we had sent him on his way and have Ings his shot.
But maybe its testament to Ings that he wouldnt have accepted that and wanted the move. If thats the case fair play to him. Always thought he was a good player who had horrible luck with us.

Also, someone like Southampton wouldn’t have paid that kind of fee, so we either wouldn’t have been able to sell him or he could have gone to a more direct rival.

Ings seems the type of player who needs a proper run of games and isn't as good as a backup so not sure he would've shown his true potential with us

I don’t think he would have been able to get a run of games with Klopps fitness demands, at Southampton they have been able to manage his requirements and get the best out of him. Even allowing for his fitness issues when he played for us he didn’t really set the world alight.
At least Origi has made an impact on games we bring him on in.

Can isn’t a loss. We got the full length of his contract out of him and it was the players decision to run it down.

Markovic imo was out worst signing in years. Even worse than caroll where we got 2 thirds.of our money back.
