He deserves his own thread.Signed as a fee transfer by Nigel Clough, he came with a “bad boy" reputation, banned from more pubs in Norwich than our own Anglian. We saw no sign of this behaviour. Along with Richard Keogh he was a constant figure at the club while around them players and managers changed with alarming regularity. Like Keogh he has polarised opinion: either they are the reason why we have consistently challenged at the top end of the Championship for many years or else they are the reason we never got over the line.

Technically an excellent player. Very good touch, great awareness of those around him. A good finisher with both feet and a useful player in his own box defending set pieces. But slow, and in need of players around him to function. Unable to run the channels or to take on and beat a defender with speed and skill. Prone to falling over with either positive or negative result depending on the sympathy of the referee.

Surely a great success overall. Maybe he saved his greatest moment until the end: the bundling in of the ball off the back of his shoulder that completely derailed Forest’s season.
