Pochettino: No Real Madrid regret

but I expected more Spurs support"

The Argentine turned down the chance to go to the Bernabeu in 2018 to stay with the London side

Mauricio Pochettino feels no regret over his decision to honour his Tottenham contract and shun Real Madrid in 2018, but did reveal frustration at a perceived lack of "support" from the Spurs board.

Pochettino spent five years with Spurs after joining from Southampton in 2014 and turned the team into Premier League top-four regulars and Champions League finalists.

But a difficult start to the 2019-20 season led to his dismissal in November last year, with Spurs bringing in Jose Mourinho as his replacement.
Pochettino previously had the opportunity to leave on his own terms in 2018, when Real Madrid attempted to hire him as Zinedine Zidane's successor, but he opted to stay put.

In the short term it proved a wise decision, as he went on to guide Spurs to their first ever Champions League final and Madrid sacked Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari in the same campaign, eventually persuading Zidane to return in March 2019.

But within a few months of Spurs' Champions League defeat to Liverpool, the club's outlook was much gloomier and Pochettino rued not being shown more support by chairman Daniel Levy and the board.

"I was happy at Tottenham and I signed a contract," Pochettino told El Pais when asked if he regretted not joining Madrid when the opportunity arose.

The truth will out, won't it?

Bloody hell. Imagine preaching about supporting and backing our manager. Same person who wanted the old manager's head when he needed support and backing.

Stop with the self pity for Potless Poch, and get behind our current manager. Disgraceful really that so called supporters like you and cry baby Sizzle, are not backing the manager of the club that they reckon they support.

You are not a supporter pal, no self respecting supporter would not get behind the current manager after he has only been at the club a few months and secured European football for next season in his short tenure.

I am ashamed to be associated with Spurs supporters like yourself, Sizzle and all the others that want the current manager gone for no other reason than vindictiveness.

Very well said Sandy. Jose is the King and very few people on here like him even though he wears Spurs pajamas when he sleeps.

Very childish comment

I support Jose, but he will be the King if and when he delivers success at Spurs and not before.

I gave him support for four seasons, but his last nine months were shocking, and he had to go. You would have called for the head of any other manager with the Prem results Pochettino got from February up until he was sacked.

He had plenty of time. I don`t deal in sentiment. Football is a results business, and he wasn`t delivering them.

Don’t deal in sentiment. Seriously. It is literally all we as Spurs fans have had since the early 90s. You’re literally a walking contradiction. And the epitome of why Spurs fans feet labelled fickle.

Spurs fans are labeled fickle because they cannot get behind one of the all time great managers. It is those supporters that moan, moan, moan about lack of success, then when they get a manager that knows how to win, they won't back him, and want him sacked from day one. Those are the absolute fickle supporters, of which there are lots on this board.
