tl;dr - yes, strongly backed by Erdogan and sponsored by government-related businesses, strong association with the ruling party's nationalistic, anti-secular policies. The article also reminded me they've done well in this year's Europa - topped a table featuring Monchengladbach, and knocked out Sporting Lisbon. They might beat us if we play a weakened team (which we possibly should).

Same as my Besiktas-supporting mate. He reckons it's all of Turkish football, but I don't know if it's everyone or just the fans of the traditional big 3, who I believe are all riddled with debt while Basaksehir have been bankrolled by some big corporation with strong state ties iirc.
