The news is saying that there was a big storage shed of Nitrate at the same place.

This is similar to one that happened near Waco in Texas about six or seven years ago.

My lebonese flat mate said that the there was a store of confiscated illegal chemicals from 2016. being stored there. Something went wrong and caused it all to explode.

That'd make more sense VC. Must have been a hell of a lot of it to do that damage.

This makes sense given the live feed before the explosion.

This appears to be a horrific yet preventable accident

Know nothing about how they make fireworks , wonder if they had a huge vat of gunpowder in there

All parties have stated no Israeli involvement.

Israel has offered humanitarian aid as well as hospital facilities for the injured.
