Although I consider Tangay Ndombele

to be a massive flop, especially as he was Spurs record signing, is there a way that he can get up to speed to play a part in a revamped Spurs midfield?

He has been a massive disappointment, and I have been one of his biggest critics. Over a year at the club, and showing absolutely no sign of getting himself fit, and capable of playing a single half of football, let alone multiple games in quick succession. Can this be turned around?

I would like to think it could, but the player himself has to show some willingness to put in the hard graft. No doubt he has some talent, but it is useless without wanting to play, and put in 90 minute performances on a regular basis.

I still live in hope that there is a very decent player in there somewhere. If so it could make a massive difference to Spurs Summer window. A midfield of say Ndombele, Hojberg, Lo Celso and Dele would be a massive upgrade on what is currently on offer.

So do Spurs persevere, as I suspect may be the outcome, or do they try to offload at a reduced fee?

Look at a player like Lampard. Was obviously blessed with natural talent, but you'd never say he was in the top 20 / 30% of players for technical ability.

But he worked his arris off every game and off the pitch, training and improving and putting the effort in to make himself the best player the he could be. The result was that he became one of the league's most important and impressive players.

Ronaldo was born with way more talent than most but he didn't just sit back and be content with being one of the better players around (like Neymar), instead he did everything that he could to be as fit as he could and improve his game, and he became one of the greatest ever.

Then you have players like NDombele.

All the talent, but on current evidence, no motivation or desire to be the best that he can be, or at the moment even really to play or fight for his place.

Just want to see some effort from him. Not a lazy, arrogant attitude and picking up the money.

I'm probably making assumptions here about footballers I've never met, and sure he has issues with Jose and injuries... but does anyone really think he gives a fack about the club?

For me, sell and get in a CM with the money who wants to make Spurs successful.

I really don't think it's a good idea selling a player who has so much raw talent, even Barca are sniffing around. For me he has the potential to be a Yaya Toure type, extremely gifted and can do things the rest of the squad can only dream of. I don't think though that his progress at Spurs falls entirely on him. Whilst admittedly he needs to work harder, he strikes me as a confidence player so I imagine it's pretty difficult to build your confidence and find the motivation if your own manager is bashing you publicly on a fairly frequent basis. This is as much a mental battle as it is a physical one so I don't see how you can get the best out of someone by making them feel low. You might say 'he's a grown man' and all that macho nonsense but everyone is different and the art of good management is knowing how to adapt to certain individuals needs. Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial now play with a smile, and they play well. That's the difference. It might have worked with Joe Cole for Jose but he's the exception rather than the rule. Ndomblele's failure at Spurs up to now is as much about the manager as it is Tanguy himself. You need your boss to believe in you. Imagine if you had no faith from the boss at your workplace? Your confidence would dip and your productivity would slow down. It's not rocket science. Jose is clearly a very good manager when all the chess pieces are in place. If they're not, he acts like a spoiled brat and breaks the pieces, one by one.

Also, bear in mind we're now a Europa League team. He is a CL player. We need to keep as many of them in the squad as possible as we won't be getting any more through the door until we're back in it.

Do you think Ndom has it in his locker to play 3 times a week over a period if 3 weeks for example? I don't.

At the moment he can barely play 3 minutes in 3 weeks.

Ndombele, Hojberg, Lo Celso and Dele
****************
That's on Levy's mind.
even Sissoko is in the mix.
Levy is not going to take a loss this year by selling the player to Juve.
Ndombele is here for another year....get to like it!

Keegan was another. Not the natural talents of the likes of dalgleish, but he worked like stink to get to the top. Ndombele appears to be the opposite and a huge waste of a lot of money. We don't know what is going on in private, but, for me, get ride now before his value goes lower.
