Hopefully Jack Harrison and Joe Geldhart don't count towards the 5 signings we apparently want to make. We also want another youngster (Drameh) signed come Friday. Season starts in 4 and a half weeks, we still need 5 signings at least. As it stands;
* We haven't improved the team at all, in fact its weaker as we've lost White (for now)
* We have Meslier as number 1 (Kiko has been dropped)
* Cooper is our only senior centre back
* Bamford is leading the line and is our only senior goal scorer
* Only Phillips and Klich are fit/available as senior centre midfielders
* Only have 1 right back available presuming Dallas plays left back
* Pablo as our only 'natural' number 10
All this to sort out in under 5 weeks. Lots to do, hopefully we take some decent steps this week or next.

I think it will be 2 of the 5 - there will be a number of under 23 signings that wont count, such as fulham RB we are linked with.
3 more is a CB - ideally you want 2 with Berardi out unless Struick is the backup?
a number 10 - ideally Eze for me

Agree with all that Shaun, but I'd be shocked in we made 5 signings before the first game.
It's a weird transfer window and going to be slow. European clubs are still going on, some leagues have started already like Scotland. A lot of uncertainty and going to be harder to bring people in.
Finances have obviously been hit by Covid but clubs are still asking for inflated fees (Norwich wanting £20million for their relegated left back...). And knowing they won't have much time to find a replacement, clubs maybe more unwilling than normal to let go of their best players.
I think we'll see a centreback and a striker in before the start of the season.

I think getting 2 centre backs is important. one bigger signing (White/Foyth) and a cheaper back up option.
No Beradi for 6-9 months and the fall back plan of moving KP and/or Ayling though worked ok in the Championship is not something you'd want to be relying on in the event of a Cooper injury/suspension(he's going to have to make more tackles etc). Also as much as I like Cooper he does get niggles.
You wouldn't want an otherwise well drilled and good side to be derailed by centre back injuries and us failing for lack of cover in that crucial area.

But I suppose I'll be nervous until we see players on the leeds sight saying they have signed.
Like Shaun said, the squad is not in a great place at the moment and the longer we leave it the worse it can be

How tempting it must be to splurge like Villa at this point? The cost of purchasing players has taken a quantum leap over the last couple of seasons.
Yes, there are urgent questions that must be answered, but demanding 40 million for a very young centre back without PL experience is totally off the scale, however much potential he might have. Ronaldo, probably the best striker in the world, cost 80 mill not so very long ago. Van Dijk, the best CB in the PL, cost 70! White at 40, even 30, is ludicrous.
How much of White's performance is down to Bielsa's coaching? I'd say quite a lot. If Bielsa can transform one young man, he can surely transform another? I'm hoping Pascal Strujk will get the chance to step up to the plate.
I wanted promotion to the PL, but in terms of the recruitment money-go-round it's a horribly inflated business and we could get into serious trouble again if we're not careful.
Bringing on young players is the way forward because Bielsa is such a good coach.

yeah - I'm sure people just want to see money being spent - people playing to much Fifa !!
the right players at the right price is whats needed.
a lot of our squad in the upwards curve, some playing together for a long time, under the same manager, which is a rarity these days, certainly for us.
lets not try and change too much about a side that smashed up the championship - I'm not saying we don't need to strenthen, but lets not get googly eyed on the emount of money being / or not being spent...
