We’ve actually loaned out our two oldest CBs in Mike and Marcos, with both imminent of leaving us. That bring us with a defence squad with a average age of 23/24 yo.
Jones, also one of the «veterans» should leave.
Which tells me we should bring in some more routine.
I wonder what it would take to go for Toby Alderweireld, maybe he can retaliate his career with us?
Is Toby any better than Smalling tho? Maybe we should just try to keep Magic Mike

I don't think we can replace Smalling for the money we generate selling him.
I'd like to keep him, but it depends on Ole's view and whether Mike's willing to return, he looks happy in Italy.

Smalling wasn't part of the squad this year, which had the third best defensive record in the league. I think we're effectively replacing Rojo / Jones if we buy a CB this summer. If we sell Smalling and one or two of them to offset the cost of acquiring the new player, and if in the process we replace a bit-part players and someone who spent last season in Rome with a defender who can potentially become a superior first-team option than Lindelof or Bailly, it's worth some net investment.
