2020-21 season

Well, our long journey has finally come to an end and congratulations are in order to all involved during the extended 2019-20 campaign.

Now it's time to move on and look forward to the upcoming season which is due to start a month from today on Saturday 12th September. There may well be a match on the day before due to TV coverage.

Three teams have joined us for next season:- Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham. Apart from Leeds, I don't see the other two achieving much and will be among the relegation contenders.

The transfer window has been open for a couple of weeks now and will close around three weeks into the new season. Speculation will be rife, I'm sure and I would like to see additions to our squad. Another CF must be our priority, especially if bids come in for Jimenez. But any player coming in MUST be better than we have at the moment. No more getting players in just to make up the numbers. There may be departures, which is unavoidable, should the right fee be appropriate.

I'm sure it's going to be a fine balancing act for Nuno, who has stated that we need players who can take us to the next level and we must try to be more competitive and positive. Nuno is defensive minded and that's got us to 7th spot on both occasions since our return to the top flight. But if we're going to be challenging for a better finish next season, he needs to have a more positive attitude. Assuming we don't lose any players, he has the nucleus and talent to make a stronger bid for a European spot. Maybe our best chance is one of the cups, who knows.

Just over 4 weeks to go and I'm sure we're all going to be watching what happens during this break as to what's going to happen regarding transfers, both in and out.

Fingers crossed, Nuno can get the right players in, remembering that we have to balance the books better or face more problems with the FFP rules.

Plus of course, the 2020-21 HC League will be up and running again as soon as the fixtures come out, which should be in about a week or so.

Decent player. Not sure how he fits in our set up though.

Ronaldo reported to want Jiminez as his new strike partner , I assume in Italy not the Black Country, not sure how many chances he will lay on for Raul as he is selfish that way, could be tempting for our Mexican lad though

Did read some speculation that Juventus want to offload Ronaldo to shed his £28m a year wages. Even suggesting he might go to Barca to play with Messi.

Interesting to compare career stats of the two great men. They have both scored just under 500 goals, but Messi has about 50% more assists than Ronaldo

Two massive egos at the same club would be a recipe for disaster. They would probably end up strangling each other in the dressing room!

Random news of the day here. Just seen a scrambled fighter jet circling a prop plane above our house and a police chopper closing in. We live about ten miles from Trumps home in NJ, kinda mad to watch

A long wait for the BCD to make its rightful comeback to the Premier League!

First home game of the season is against some Mancunian team that we easily beat twice last season. The last game of the season is at home to an even worse mancunian team. <OK>
