Letter to Victor

Ola Victor,
A couple of years ago, you were asked if you had the choice of any manager, who would you bring to Leeds, and you replied, Bielsa. Bielsa! The forgotten man of football, a guru living in seclusion in Rosario in Argentine. Together with Radz and Kinnear, you visited him, you listened to his ideas and bought into his philosophy. The rest is history.
Tonight, we have seen another football genius, another Argentinian, in a different kind of retreat. Lio Messi, who cut a forlorn figure as his beloved Barcelona capitulated to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Is this another opportunity to astonish the football world and revitalise the fading career of a one-time master of the game? Is there any other coach who could revitalise Messi's game like his fellow countryman, Bielsa? Is there any challenge more enticing than returning to the Champions podium in two years, to humiliate Bayern Munich, wearing the white of Leeds United?
It is, of course, a dream, but once upon a time, Bielsa was a dream, and dreamers make football the wonderful sport it is. Sleep well, Victor, dulce suenos (sweet dreams).

Maybe like hiring a Ferrari for a weekend.....perhaps we can hire him to help us agaianst our fiercest enemies.... Our budget might stretch to that but not much else.

OK, let's start with the cost, 500,000 a week. Imagine the merchandising of Messi 10, on a Leeds shirt, for our global fanbase. Imagine the money we could make off the TV rights alone, not to mention sponsorship from Morrisons and Tetleys and the like.
And you can laugh all you like, but I heard from a reliable source that Bielsa has a spare bed in his flat in Wetherby, and Lio's name is on the headboard.

Maybe you should write to Lionel too?
If he fancies it and makes the first move we might get him cheaper

Reminds me of the Maradonna rumours back in the 80s.

May as well swallow our pride and make a call to Juve and ask if Christiano wants a new challenge, Get them both in. Come on man show some ambition why just get Messi.

The things you learn! I always thought Mr Richie was decent singer, didn’t know he played football too.. reckon Bielsa would be a on his case to get himself fit though
