Premier League Fixtures

Premier league fixtures are announced on Friday, so with les than a week until we know who everyone is playing when, who do you want first up?

For Liverpool, Iā€™m hoping for Leeds. Iā€™d love to see Bielsa and co have a real go at us, think it could make for a high scoring entertaining game early on in the season.

I’d take Liverpool first up.

Like to wait to play promoted sides so you get a feel for how they’ll set up and think that makes it easier to beat them.

Conversely with the top sides sometimes it takes a while to get going and if United have an extra sharpness from the EL then it might help.

Sounds nice on paper but probably a load of ballades.

I don't think any of the previous season's top 4 can play each other first up unless it's changed. Although we may not start the season until a bit later if we stay in the Europa tonight
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is that a recent rule? I'm sure there have been matches between top four teams first up in the past!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it is true. Top 4 do not play each other. Also derby's don't happen.nyoy can't get two games st home in a row I think as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm pretty sure it's not. There may be an unwritten one, which has been broken in the past. But how could you justify saying the top 4 can't play each other on the opening day. Just think about that. No way it's true

Ah fair enough!

Right, so there isn't a rule preventing it then. Like I said, there may be an unwritten one that has been broken in the past but there is no rule preventing it.

City away first up. Get the hardest game out of the way with three points.

I fear it would be another turgid match tho Winston, and I’d love to see some fun attacking games first up.

Both sides would just set out to nullify one another if it were you and us imo

Agree on the promoted teams thing. You ideally want to meet them a couple of months into the season, once their spirit has been crushed!

Not really bothered but wouldn't mind Spurs.
A chance to put one over Jose.
