Antonio Conte : "His first touch nonsense does not bother me at all. They just don't like him. But with me, he is in good hands. Lukaku has been a great striker, only good coaches know how to use him. At Belgium National Team he is their top scorer. One thing I know about him is that he does not like to see goalkeepers. He has scored all Kinds of goals. If you can break Samuel Eto'o's long standing record of the most goals in a season at Inter, what more would you want him to do. Too much agendas against top black players. They don't feel good when a black player is super talented, they look for his imperfections, as if they are perfect. Let us all learn to praise and give credit to the players despite their origins."
Conte is right to talk about prejudice in football, but I don't think it's based mainly on race. The fans will love any player who performs for their football club, regardless of his colour. I think every manager has his own prejudice and "agendas", but they could be based on a number of other things. Van Gaal is famous for disliking Brasilian players both black and white, and there are managers who don't like British players.

That’s not what the study results/discussion even implies, neither is it what I am saying, obviously not. Which result of the study / part of anything I have said do you think is saying that ONLY black players get identified by physical attributes.

In fact let’s go back to the original question. Why do you think the correlations and results seen in the study are not, even in part, due to racial bias.

Bevause ifs it's used for people of all colours then I fail to see what makes you believe the motivation is racism

It’s not used for all ethnicities equally, this is literally why I posted the link to the study and have asked you multiple times to read it before debating. You could have figured all this out for yourself.

The report doesnt tell us where it is an accurate description of the players attributes
posted on 19/8/20
How on earth could you quantify that in a valid way, for inherently subjective descriptors? Is that the best you have to try and explain why there is no possibility that the results could be due to racial bias?
posted on 20/8/20
Exactly. Its impossible to accurately report what is a correct description or not.

Pogba is not pacy, Sterling is not powerful. Even if they were, there’s still more to their game than that. It’s symptomatic of a paradigm starting to get more recognised:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whenever Pogba isn’t playing, our fans say we miss his flair and ability. Not his pace, power or any other physical attribute.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, that doesn’t mean that racial bias doesn’t exist in the descriptions used for players in football. From the research study I posted that was done recently, to this damning interview with Carlton Cole; https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8018469/amp/Carlton-Cole-reveals-shock-asked-big-black-quick-players-agency.html and tbh I could find much more of the same of how similar incidents happen at all levels, it’s just that this was recent. With all this evidence, do you really think it just doesn’t exist ?
And yes obviously this doesn’t mean non-black players never get criticised for doing x and y. But they won’t be having it done due to racial bias.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I do think it happens, but I don’t think you made very good examples.
I also don’t think it’s as big a problem (in England) as you make out. Perhaps on the continent.
Conte is taking rubbish for example, Utd didn’t like Lukaku because his style limited us, nobody denied that he scored goals.

To me this article is undermined by the fact that they are completely wrong for stating that Pogba can run very fast. You cannot pen something like this, stating that black players are tagged with 'beast; qualities of 'pace and power' when actually no one, NO ONE who speaks knowledgably about football would describe Pogba as having pace and many would recognise that actually Pogba's strength is his technical ability. He is a powerful player and black or not this quality should be acknowledged.
I find it rather strange that a piece which is effectively 'raising the issue about 'football discussion' generalising about black players abilities, is actually using very poor examples to make their case. Indeed, i would say making the case that the discussion about black players in centred on their physical abilities is itself a significant generalisation.
Lukaku has shortcomings as a striker playing in the EPL, and particularly where playing under someone like Jose, who expects his No.9 to do the no.9 job, whether Lukaku, Kane, Drogba. It is different in Italy but also the player now has new found confidence which has seen his form improve a lot - which is ironic seeing as he's now playing in a country where monkey chants were deemed by his own fans to be not racist but a sign of respect!

Except I have posted a large, recent study multiple times on this thread suggesting it is an objective fact.
