No getting round it. We were miles better than Seville.

But we couldn't score from open play, despite the many, many glaringly open chances we squandered. If we had scored just one of them, chances are we would have played Inter last night and probably won... and everything in United's garden would now be rosy.

The reaction about United's squad depth resulting from the Seville game has been totally OTT. Even Ole blamed it (for the likes of Martial simply fluffing his lines so many times). We all know that Ole is 2 or 3 players short from competing strongly for the PL or CL and his squad improvements are work in progress.

But lets not blame it for why we really lost to Seville.

The fact Ole wouldn't make a sub for 87 minutes and the performances (or lack of them) from fringe players when called upon is the reason people mention the squad depth. However, if we continue to faff around so much over transfers, that's going to take a long time to address fully

Congratulations then, you had more XGs, which made you worthy winners. Is that what you’re wanting to hear? I really do hope it makes you feel better about your team’s complete failure to overcome a so-called weaker team.

Let’s also forget about the fact that Lindelof and AWB can’t defend, that Dan James would have ran out the stadium had they opened the gates, that you produced nothing of note after the hour mark in a European semi-final and that when going behind you got even worse, making Sevilla close out the game with ease. You are a fantastic team that really deserved the Europa League.

You sure act like them. From the same area I suppose.

By your logic, arsenal are a better team than United right now.
They beat us 2-0 in the league... They must be better than us right?
Spurs also drew with us 1-1 in June... Meaning that we are of equal ability... We are not better than spurs or arsenal.
Burnley also drew with us not so long ago, they must just be as good as United too.
Watford best Liverpool 3-0, guessing they're better than Liverpool as well, based on your logic.
Saying that, Watford also beat us 2-0, meaning they should have won the league easily, beating us and liverpool with ease.
We also lost to teams like Bournemouth in the Pl, they should be top 3 based on the win against us..
Also barely scraped past Partizan and Az Alkamaar in the Europa...
It took us a penalty shootout to beat world beaters Rochdale in the carabao cup..
On your logic, all these teams are of equal ability or better than United.

There really is no wind-up here. I think Utd fans are genuinely being serious that they felt they deserved the Europa League because they got more XGs than the winners.

How about we just cancel next years CL and give it to Utd, as they’ll out-XG everyone they come up against? It doesn’t matter that they can’t defend and can’t put their chances away - the XGs will make them worthy winners.

There really is no wind-up here.
