Suarez

Ok, so this is not really a serious article, but should we be considering taking the racist, biting, cheating focker that is Suarez, knowing that he would be cheap to get (if rumours are correct).

Other than be throughly dislikable (when not on your team), he is still a top quality player and would really boost our options. You could say that he would never join us after playing for Liverpool, but it's the exact trick I would expect from him.

Would you take him, or is there too much dislike to ever want to see him in a UTD shirt, after the Evra incident?

Winston - out of interest, have you played much football? Level doesn't matter, just competitive football?

The reason I ask is that over the years I have met dozens and dozens of people who have acted in ways on a pitch that they simply wouldn't even contemplate off it. Whether that be physical aggression or language. Many I would consider good friends and some I would say actively avoid confrontation in the rest of their lives.

I include myself in this. I was never violent on the pitch but was significantly more confrontational and aggressive than I have ever been, or will ever be, off the pitch.

That's just the football pitch. I've played some rugby (not much) and that's another level entirely.

Yes mate, played for many years and some of them at a decent level.

I do understand your point and don’t entirely disagree, but what you’re describing isn’t the same as biting.

We’re not talking about getting angry here, or saying a few nasty words.

We’re talking about a violent act. Three times.

The only people I know who were violent, multiple times, on a football pitch are known as violent individuals generally.

People are quick to say Suarez isn’t like this away from the pitch... as if anyone actually has a clue.

Did you never meet anyone who was so triggered by the need to win that they were violent? I’ve known people throw punches on the pitch and be in tears over it in the dressing room after.

Some of the acts of violence on a rugby pitch that are considered ‘part of the game’ are ridiculous. Friend of mine used to box (just amateur level - for our university) and he got himself into a mindset where he almost created a different persona for competition.

I’ve also known people who were violent on a pitch because they are violent people and that was the only vaguely socially acceptable (in the loosest sense of the word) outlet. So I definitely know the type of people you’re referring to. I just don’t think it’s all of type A or all of type B.

Sorry but I don’t buy that first part.

If someone is triggered to violence on multiple occasions simply because of a football match then in my view, they’re a violent person.

I do understand what you’re saying but I just don’t accept that these people have this part of their personality that only comes out on the pitch.

The human brain just doesn’t work like that.

Pretty sure Suarez has a few team mate bust ups under his belt as well, as I recall.

I think people are very good at rationalising behaviour and are capable of getting themselves into a overly competitive mindset. Think the human brain is more than capable of that. But i think we probably fundamentally disagree on that. Interesting discussion though - thanks.

...

Considering you have a severe lack of knowledge of life in general then no one will really take you at your word.

As I said above, SAF said that Mark Hughes personality totally changed once he put the United shirt on.

Actually I do agree with you on that - I suppose I just disagree that this type of violence comes from competitiveness and actually the two things are different.

But yeh, interesting chat, cheers

I'm one of them.
Complete kent on the pitch...
Miserable kent but on the whole quite a relaxed guy off the pitch.
Biting is the last thing I've resort to though, that's just weird. I don't know why anyone would want to bite anyone else on a football pitch.
Maybe Suarez is secretly gay.

I’d rather let Jo Brand fart in my mouth 5 times a day for the next 5 years than sign that goofy piece of soggy chivito.
