So, what are the Glazers up to?

No new signings yet, or on the horizon, as part of Ole and Ed’s ongoing squad development plan. During a transfer window which it is vital for United stay in touch and close the gap with Liverpool and City. Whilst Chelsea are busy spending, making up for lost ground, missing out last window. And if City can bag Messi, then what a coup and boost that would be for them.

1. Is it because Glazer spunked all their transfer funds on that American Brady chap and are fully concentrating on their Gridiron franchise in favour of United.
2. Or they have they just had enough of spunking their money on over valued soccer players who will rarely deliver for United. Just happy now using United as a cash cow.
3. Or is Ed and his team that hopeless he really can’t seal any deals.
4. Or are Glazers on the verge of selling United to an unidentified buyer and are reluctant to spend any more of their own money until it is ratified.
5. Or none of the above and we actually will see transfers finally completed before the season starts.

If United start the new season without further recruitment then Ole should walk for his own good. Where United are right now, from when he took over is a minor miracle in itself. But without further backing from the Glazers this summer would be a disaster for 'The Plan'. Staying still would be a massive step backwards and a potential frustrating new season would see Ole being a Lamb to the slaughter by the many idiotic United fans just waiting for him to fail.

We’ve broke several records since SAF left

Indeed. Moyes alone can claim:

lowest ever Premier League points tally
United fail to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 1995
United's worst home league form for over a decade
Suffered three defeats in a row for the first time since 2001

And it's been record-breaking since then too!

Sancho at that price is pie in the sky.

They will probably expect Ole to try and compete with the top 4 this season by buying him another couple of teenagers or a Daniel James type signing.

Lots of sticks to beat Ed with... being tight with the cash isn’t one. We’ve broke several records since SAF left

Yeah ...that’s worked out well.....

to be fair baz has broken many record himself since SAF left:
most combining of the words "pogba" and "control the game" in a sentence
most references to money ruining the PL
fewest opinions/number of comments ratio
highest ratio of knowledge of scottish football/knowledge of english football since jock stein

and i'm sure there are many others.

I find this narrative that the Glazers are tight with the club’s money absolutely mental. Our spending on transfers, and wages, is comparable with City’s since Fergie retired. Nobody else in the league is close to this spending. And I think only Real Madrid, Barca and PSG are in Europe.

Where's Hafi/ can someone draw up a stat sheet.
I'm pretty sure we UTD don't spend as much when we get C.L football, but bust a load when we drop out of it.

if this theory is correct, then it sounds similar to Arsenals model, of just hoping for Top 4 and nothing more.

i'm sure we'll see some incomings - well, at least one - but all the evidence of the past decade suggests that the owners will be unwilling to sanction the sort of major investment needed to even put us in the title discussion.

and to be honest, i can't entirely blame them. the big difference in income each year is between coming 5th and coming 4th, i'm not sure there is a huge difference between 4th and 1st (you have intangibles such as brand value, sponsorships etc, but extra tv/prize money probably only adds up to £50m or less).

so if you told the glazers that chelsea finished level on points with united, have spent c. £200m this summer, and are currently 12/1 for the title (so a less than 8% chance), they'd probably feel more than justified in keeping their hands largely in their big fat american pockets.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

unwilling to sanction major investment?? Amazing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I assume you’re talking about the fact we’re the third highest spenders behind City and PSG in the last decade?

I think people conflate they debt with the investment. We have owners who have a completely different model to Roman or the state run clubs. But the fact is they still need to sign off on the transfer spend, and that equates to the third highest expenditure in Europe in the last decade. Yes it’s true, none of it has been put in by them, but at the same time our commercial revenues have grown exponentially under their stewardship and this is what has allowed us to spend like we have. I want them gone as much as the next guy, if only to free us from the debt. But the truth is, if we had a DoF or a better negotiating team and got deals done quicker, the clamour to get the owners out would be a fraction of what it is now. And that responsibility has to sit with Ed. He’s ultimately responsible for failing to sanction a DoF.

Hasn't cost them a penny. In the time city's owners have ploughed in way over a billion the glaziers have removed 800 million from United.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
This comparison never rings true. If the City owners had “ploughed in” over a billion, then City would be permanently banned from European competition because of FFP breaches. They’re using their own revenues, just like everyone else. They just don’t have any debt to service.

This comparison never rings true. If the City owners had “ploughed in” over a billion, then City would be permanently banned from European competition because of FFP breaches. They’re using their own revenues, just like everyone else. They just don’t have any debt to service.

Using your family linked companies to sponsor yourself is still ploughing in money, just an extra step compared to the early days of Abramovich. PSG have been even more blatant as in the case where they gifted Neymar a quarter of a billion quid to buy himself - if I remember rightly they just played in the final rather than being permanently banned?
