Bolton Wanderers v Bradford City

After a long wait for competitive football, 6 months since a 2-2 draw at Burton we are back. First day of the season. Different this time, strangely starting with the first round of the league cup and unfortunately with no fans attending. The only official options are to pay £10 and watch on I follow(I'm already struggling with that) or if local listen to radio Manchester or Bolton FM commentary. The positive after those awful 6 months we are back playing football. A new manager in ian evatt with 16 new players will clearly take time to gel. 2 cup games will help imo to prepare for the first league game next Saturday. Team news. All 16 new signings are available for selection. The only absentee's today are the unfortunate Dennis politic out for the season after being injured pre season, mo faal who has a foot injury and liam Edwards who is carrying an injury from last season. The new journey starts today. Bring it on.

Oh, a loan player goalkeeper who goes back to home club end of season isn’t a good idea! Is he better than our own, ?

Ian Evatt is making a lot about the lack of atmosphere at the UniBol without fans. In my opinion, it's a very poor excuse for losing a game of football.

The same conditions apply to all teams and if the players are not focussed enough to rise above that, they shouldn't be on the pitch. The manager and coaches have an important job in making sure that the desire and concentration is there to win the game.

Excuses at this stage of the season aren't good enough. I sincerely hope that isn't going to be a pointer for the rest of the season.

Is Ronan Darcy hiding in training ? And does he need to do more?. Maybe the match against Crewe will give us some answers.

Lessons for Greenwood & Foden.

The restart part deux tonight a different cup before the real thing is restarted at the weekend.

From what has been written in the Beano, we will be seeing a different team than the one which played on Saturday. It's to be hoped that we are better prepared than we were then. This is the last dress rehearsal before the real test starts.

Evatt has instructed his defence to be "horrible". It sounds like something out of a children's book. I think that I would have used quite a different term However, I suppose that he has to be careful what he says to the press. The main point is that they have to get a grip of the realities and get stuck in.

Best hope we don't make a mess of the silly rules of 4 from 1 and 6 from another group of players this weekend Tobias might need a new super computer to work out who can play and if we've meet the rules
