OH DEAR...SAME OLD STORY...

Firstly, I didn’t even realise there was a game on today, so forgive me for no match thread...thanks to Bear though for doing it

It seems going on today’s result that our manager hasn’t learned much or changed much either

We seemed to have started a new season just how we finished the last one, inept, clueless and no threat whatsoever

Maybe, just maybe this was a one off and we’ll make it count next week, when the real work starts, but it does seem like this was a missed opportunity for us to really show that we’ve changed and we’re ready

The signs are worrying, because for certain the manager will not be given too many chances this coming season from our owners or indeed the supporters if these sort of performances continue, they’ll make their dissatisfaction clear and it won’t take much, as many are still furious at the woeful final game last season

Personally, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and see how we play when the season starts...but one thing’s for sure...if there more performances and results like today’s, then I won’t hold back

Here’s hoping for [MUCH] better

Did they? Surprising - still they can concentrate on winning the league by February or promotion by Christmas

I am confident that no Forest fan has said anything like “we will win the league” for the best part of a decade now 🤷‍♂️

About half a dozen times last season Sabri picked a bizarre starting line up. Well he has started this season by doing it again.

I was disappointed when I saw the team but hoped he would push da Costa forward and tell him to stay close to Lewis. But no exactly the same formation which failed us last season. Freeman and Taylor improved things and must start next week. Carvalho, despite a couple of very nice touches proved he doesn’t have ninety minutes in him and should be sold. Samba needs to speed things up drastically instead of waiting for our opponents to get organised and ready to restart. The young full back not ready, Darikwa or Jenks next week. Blackett and Bouch have to improve.

I think Sabri has until Christmas.

Bach not Bouch

Red, personally I think Christmas will be a stretch

With the feeling [still] within the Club at how last season finished, there’s a lot of discontent among supporters, who will not be as forgiving or generous this time round

It’s a case of Sabri had better have learned how to deal with his mistakes

If we start anywhere near as poor as we finished last season, then supporters will be letting their frustrations known - I give him a dozen games - if there’s no clear evidence that we’ve learned and improved, then the manager will be replaced

I doubt those in charge will be wanting to hang around if he’s shown he hasn’t learned or changed

Must have missed the posts that said you were totally outplayed. Especially 2nd half. You tried to counter our press first half, 2nd half you couldnt cope with it. Should have been 3-0 if we could finish.
Lyle Taylor is still a binman.

There is a difference between being out played and having possession, first half you created absolutely nothing, yes you had the ball but only in area of no danger. I agree you had chances in the second half but your finishing was pathetic, header over from six yards, decent opportunity hit straight at Samba. To survive next season, like us you will need to improve dramatically.

It’s just one game Rev. The players are no where near for and no one cares about this cup. He picked a team that shows he is not bothered in my book.

There will be plenty of poor performances again this season. There is for most teams because Of now many games we play. We are not suddenly going to be much better. Playing one more up front wouldn’t make a difference. Man City and Chelsea play with one up and score plenty. We need a better midfield who can create or score goals. That’s what I think will hold us back. Players like Silva are just not gonna get 10 goals a season. So SL has to play the way we do otherwise we would just lose every game.

I personally don’t think there is a way of getting this squad promoted without a stable of play that’s keeps things relatively tight. We are just not gonna outsider teams by playing 2 strikers. We need the wingers and midfield to improve and to contribute. We barely create anything ever and that’s the problem. At home we are shocking because are attacking players are generally poor. Grabber is a good striker for sure but needs chances. The wingers hardly ever get an assist and neither does silva.

red - TBH I didn’t read too much into the result against Barnsley because as you say, it was just another distraction - in fact they’ve done us a favour

What’s been proved over the years is that in order to get out of this Division, you need a few things, and one of them is consistency

The only thing we were consistent in last season was conceding 90+ minute goals

Consistency in keeping a a tight knit group playing regularly...strikers that can score, defenders that can defend....a low number of injuries and suspensions and a little bit of luck
