The maximum number of people who can legally gather in a house in England will be cut to try to stop another coronavirus spike, Sky News understands.
A government source said the figure will be reduced from 30 - but the new number is still being ironed out.

It follows a sharp uptick in COVID-19 infections recently, with 2,948 reported on Monday - the highest number since 22 May.

People across the country are unable to get coronavirus tests because NHS laboratories have reached a "critical pinch-point" in processing them.

Sarah-Jane Marsh, the current director of NHS Test and Trace, has apologised and said "we are doing all we can to expand quickly".household-gathering-limit-set-to-be-cut-to-battle-covid-19-spike-12066423

So mass unemployment, unable to do enough testing good times ahead, also don't forget the Unis will be opening next month so we can expect a huge pickup in figures.

Statistically those groups most affected are the elderly, ethnic minorities, the poor and women.

There's only so much the government can do, we've known for months now not to gather in large groups yet people continue to do so. How irresponsible of Extinction Rebellion to hold a protest during a pandemic, and the raves aren't helping either.

I think the most important thing to do is to protect those who are most adversely affected by the disease. Statistically those groups most affected are the elderly, ethnic minorities, the poor and women.

A good policy to stop these groups from being adversely affected by the disease would be to limit these groups' interaction with the rest of the public. Limitations on how many of these people are allowed in work places, public spaces and events.

For example at job interviews, the candidate who does not fall into either of the above categories should automatically get the job to limit the adverse affect of the disease on these groups. The person getting the job should also be paid more than anyone in the company in the above groups so that we encourage more of those not in those groups into the work place, displacing those in the above groups, to limit the adverse affects of the disease on them.

Proposed policy to limit adverse affects of covid on the most affected groups:

1. Restriction on women voting. Polling places are a hot bed for disease and that still leaves 50% of the population able to vote, a fair representation.

2. A restriction on ethnic minorities in the work place and in public spaces to limit the adverse affect of covid on ethnic minorities.

3. Demolition of all disabled friendly infrastructure to limit the movement of disabled people, to therefore limit the adverse affects of the disease on them.

4. Banning of medical treatment for the old and ill healthed. It is a well known fact that old and ill people catch the disease in hospital. If they are refused medical treatment for other conditions then they cannot catch covid so are not adversely affected by the disease.

5. etc.

I think point 4 is very easy, given you can't actually see a doctor at the moment ( well you can't see mine - other than a next to useless phone appointment )

It seem, if you have Covid and are suffering to the extent that you may actually die from it, then the NHS is all yours. For the rest of the population, including those with urgent needs like cancer etc, you are on your own, with your local doctor / medical practice's continue to enjoy their extended ( fully paid ) holiday.

I have a friend who needs to take her son for a covid test. We know that in and around Medway in Kent there are a few places to go to. Yet, when she goes to boom, none of them accept. Closest she can go is Telford nearly 158 miles away.

If we think tests will be at the right level given that, then we are in trouble. It's disgraceful

I had a test without leaving the house. Amazon delivered it and the Missus posted it off.

Do you have any idea how reliable those mail-inn tests are?
And how long before you get the results back?

You could be dead before you get the results.

Considering I obtained the test through the government website I don't see why the results would be any less accurate than those done at a test centre, and we got the results back within 3 days.
