I thought he should have won it in 2018 too tbh. Don’t begrudge Salah winning it either though.

TAA could have young player locked in for the next couple of seasons too. It does feel to me they’re missing a trick not having a breakthrough award or something. It’s like with Sterling, he seemed to be classed as a young player for years because he broke through so young.

It's a brave call to say breaking the Prem scoring record shouldn't get best player imo.

Yeah which is why I don’t begrudge it too much. Given at the time the points tally was unprecedented but also the manner in which we did it (the chances created vs conceded as well as the possession) then I thought the playmaker of the team that did that was more deserving.

Football is ultimately judged by the simpler stats though.

I take your point tbf but it's an individual award in a team game and there's few things more singular in the sport than hitting the back of the net, so to do that more than anyone ever in that competition will always take the prize.
