With Wilson having joined Newcastle, Watson reportedly on the verge of going to Villa and King saying he wants to start in the Premier its looking like the usual groundhog day and our annual shambles in terms of trying to buy a striker ?
Dunno what you guys think but read some report that Liverpool are looking to unload Brewster for 20mln... worth a try ?
Striker Situation

While I'm happy with the PEH & Doherty signings it sometimes feel as though we are trapped by our own scouting policy (Need to be young, high resale value, under the radar or players in the last year of their contract). Sometimes it feels as though we don't have a plan B. Just feels like we sign a lot of the same types of player who deliver same kinda stuff without ever making a significant change to the results on the pitch or mentality of the team.
While Bergwijn, Gedson, Sessesgnon, Clarke, GLC, NDombele are all talented I can't honestly say any of them have made much difference.,.... We are still relying on the same old guys of Kane & Son.
Almost feels as though we need to add a VDV type, might be past his best and might not have any great resale value but its the kinda signing that makes others take note as well as make some of our current players sit up and think wow....."i gotta raise my game"..... Someone that could help to change the culture. I think we need to get a better mix of young talented guys, solid pro's but also a couple of big names that know how to get us over the line.
I know Bale is probably out of reach unless RM pay a big slug of his wages but I think it would be the shot in the arm the club needs...... Just for once Levy, please put the football first and it might just pay off.... I honestly don't think we are that far away from top 4 but keep signing these young, lightweight, 20mln quid, attacking midfielders/ wide players aint gonna cut it......Seriously how many times did we have to watch Moura replace Stevie, lamela replace GLC or Dele and vice versa without it make any tangible difference. All the while NDombele and Sess are sat around doing nothing having done nothing to prove to Jose they are worthy of a chance. We need someone that changes the dynamic of everything about the club

I don't think we were ever in for Wilson or Watkins. If we were in for Wilson then you'd have heard about a bid when Newcastle were making the move, but there hasn't been any reported interest from us. It's only ever been logic (we need a striker, he needs a new club) and rumours.
Watkins looks good but was he really the level we need? Unproven at the top level, he was playing for Weston Super-Mare a few years ago! (Yeah I know Vardy did it, but it's rare).
I still think that by not going for either of those players it shows that the Club has identified other targets, it just hasn't been possible to do the deal yet.
Fack knows who they are though!

Keep reading more about Spurs interest in Will Hughes ...... another that won't move the needle. I understand and appreciate the financial situation but the club aint doing enough to prove to Kane there's real ambition.
If this "bland" transfer policy continues I suspect this season will be the last we see of Kane
We wont be terrible but can't see us doing enough for top 4. While fun for the fans I don't think a League cup for example will be enough for Kane

Will Hughes would be typical. Not what we need at all and not even that young to be a 'prospect'

At the moment our squad is not good enough, we are short of a striker, short of creativity, and there is still a question mark over us at the back.
We still have Aurier, Sanchez is still inconsistent, Davies is still ordinary going forward and we have not replaced JV (unless CCV is that man).
In an ideal world we also get upgrades on Sissoko, Davies, Aurier and Sanchez.
We have one established LB in Davies, who is steady but limited, Sessegnon would be the ideal attacking LB, but he is still learning that trade.
There are still several areas of the squad that need improving on and holes to fill.

I have to admit i've not seen much of Brewster but he looks a bit schit.

Liverpool rate him very highly, it's a shame he'll always be stuck behind there title winning three. I think he'l do a great job for whoever he joins. Young and hungry.

Closer we get to the season, more depressing it gets. How ridiculous that we have missed out on Wilson AND Watkins. How are we not able to attract these players, especially over Newcastle and Villa. Absolute facking joke.

No it's not. Wilson chose Newcastle over us because it felt right for him and his family. Watkins was already based in London and comes to us as our No1 striker. Working with Deano before was another plus for him. Maybe we offered better wages and were prepared to pay over the odds to get our man. Something Levy will never do.
