Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Donald Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament.

Now I've really seen it all. The human race never ceases to amaze me. I still don't know whether to laugh or cry.

No wonder The Donald has such a massive ego when there are people like Christian Tybring around. Smh.

He is right that Trump was projected to win the election by most forecasters prior to Covid.

......

No he was not. Not even by the Fox polls.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I attended and reported on a lot of projections and outlooks for 2020 in my job. Asset managers spend thousands of pounds hiring forecasters to detail likely outcomes of events that might affect their portfolios and they are usually very accurate except for when a Black Swan event like Covid happens.

I must have read about 10-15 different forecasts, all of them had a Trump victory as a certainty.

Being behind in national polls means sod all in an electoral college system btw.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I obviously cannot speak to aspects related to your job, but do agree with your last point.

General polls are fine most of the cycle as an indicator, but come election time, the electoral college makes about 10-15 states the key
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Currently on furlough, so can’t access a lot of my data at the moment but if you are curious about how these people with billions of dollars to play with make their decisions, I will try and post some of the outlooks for 2020 and 2019 I have analysed.

Yes, Trump is necer going to win national polls. The reason he still has a shot is we don’t really know how things will play out in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Florida, and Arizona, which will determine the presidency.

Riled up liberals in coastal states means very little to determining the election result.

Have I agreed with you too often in succession? Want a snide remark to balance things out?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think this says more about collective exasperation/despair/anger towards Trump, than anything about me.

I mean, were it lockdowns we were discussing you would have turned your ire towards Trump towards me by now.

Just heard one of the Bob Woodward tales from mid Feb.

Oh dear. Trump is telling him how bad this virus was going to be. The exact opposite of what he has told the US public.

Sort of thing along with all the other revelations of his ineptitude and corruption would bury most presidents, so show he just shrugs this off. It’s quite a talent he’s got. About his only one.
