EU Threatens The UK with Sanctions.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/eu-threatens-fines-and-trade-sanctions-in-row-over-brexit-treaty-wj2hg07z0

That’s right SANCTIONS, like you'd give to North Korea, Russia or any other Pariah State who violates International Law.

This is how low we’ve sunk, what a truly shameful episode in our history.

Encouraging that The European Union is standing up to this criminality though, still waiting to see if our Parliament has the backbone to do the same

So many flaws in your analysis but just pointed out one thing, take your Tesco-Asda move analysis. It's easy to move shop when you have Asda next to Tesco as an option. However, if Asda is
- 30 mins more drive from your nearest Tesco
- Not open to shop with you yet as you're not their membership
Then you might need to review your position before leaving Tesco. Ideally you want to make sure you have some agreement with Asda on the day you leave Tesco and won't be able to shop there anymore.

How many trade deals do you think UK can achieve from now until Brexit deadline?

It's akin to one unit of a large shopping complex containing a whole range of shops, and setting up a stall a mile down the road.

Easy to say No deal. But even if we go for it, will we have border between Ireland and NI?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
NI (as per the WA) will still remain in the SM for manufactured goods and agrifoods.

So even in a no deal scenario north south border checks would be nominal (and would look the same as it does now).

But if the internal market bill passes it would result in additional checks at the Irish land border which republican dissidents would only be too happy to exploit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who would carry out those checks?

Unionists are not happy with checks and charges between NI and GB with the present Irish sea border plan, so one side will be annoyed .
..and the GFA seeks to respect both traditions,,so the agreement is being bent either way.

There is no easy solution to this.

Just have to keep our heads.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s the Tories riding roughshod over the GFA, nobody else.

The Democrats in Congress have already called it out and have said if we proceed in violating international law then we can kiss goodbye to a U.K./US trade deal.

Actions have consequences.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bladdy American interference in foreign affairs...who do these white imperialists think they are, haha.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They’re not interfering, they’re commenting on the US/U.K. trade deal and the GFA which they were involved in negotiating.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was messing.

Have you ditched Friday Fred?

I don’t do it every week. .

The text has not been released yet, so as usual the devil will be in the detail, however Truss stated:

"This is a historic moment for the UK and Japan as our first major post-Brexit trade deal. The agreement we have negotiated – in record time and in challenging circumstances – goes far beyond the existing EU deal, as it secures new wins for British businesses in our great manufacturing, food and drink, and tech industries."

If she's being truthful (I stretch I know) this deal should be welcomed.

Just need another 150 plus similar deals to make up for the 8-10% GDP leaving the EU is going to cost us.

As we have left, new trade deals are kinda essential.

Am sure EU and UK will do deals to keep capitalism going.

Well obviously.

Having to negotiate them all from scratch isn’t really anything to celebrate.
