Mbappe on the market next year.

So the boy has told PSG he wants to go ofski, had enough of the micky mouse french league and is reported to be interested in going to Spain or England with M Utd and Liverpool mentioned, goes without saying for Spain it's obvs R Madrid and Barcelona.

While people will dismiss liverpool for financial reasons let's not forget he's available next season, and if you want to bring Mbappe in then one of the front three will probably go and you are likely to fetch £150M plus for let's say a Mane or Salah. Liverpool have also proved when they want they can splash the cash, VVD and Alison come to mind.

Maybe being frugal now means next year we can spend on a truly world class player....a front line of Mane..Firmino. .Mbappe looks nice to me

Think VVD and Alisson would come under the ready made category tbh....

Really?

VvD had won three Scottish league titles and a Scottish League cup I suppose.....
Alisson hadn't won anything I don't think?

They weren't exactly being regarded as worlds best in their position at the time as far as I recall.

One was playing for Southampton, and the other was a virtual unknown just a few months earlier. Not really the background you'd normally attach the label "ready-made, bone fide world class player" to in either case.

So because they didn’t have the exposure of being at a big club they can’t of been ready made?

VVD was nothing at Southampton, that's why he was a steal at £75m.

Compared to Maguire at £90m yeah

What has Maguire got to do with any of this 😂

Anyone with half a brain could see what VVD was capable of, why City wanted him to replace Kompany.

And Alisson was starting for Brazil in the WC, and made it to the semis with Roma in the Champs League.

It very much depends on what you consider "ready-made, bone fide world class player" to mean. I would generally take it to mean that the player has already playing at that level for a sustained period, otherwise I’d consider them to be “potentially” world class.

VVD I would say was very much a player entering his prime, with sufficient experience and totally ready to make the step up; Alisson was relatively young for a keeper and had just played his breakout season- personally I didn’t think he’d be ready to perform consistently at the highest level and definitely wouldn’t consider he was proven enough at that moment to consider him “world class”, in as much as I would generally be quite reluctant to award that label who hasn’t been playing at that sort of level for more than a season.

The fees paid at the time would be the kind of money you’d expect to fork out for players in that category, but it’s also true that both of those fees raised a lot of eyebrows at the time because they weren’t broadly considered to be worth that much.

That’s how I feel about it as a neutral with no particular affinity for Liverpool or axe to grind either way in this discussion.
