Houssem Aouar

Is it still possible to sign him? Never felt it was likely as he seems rated highly enough to play for one of Europe’s big boys.

With the sales of Memphis and Traore, Lyon will have made in the region of £70M in transfer money this Summer.

Reportedly, we had the upper hand in negotiations because Lyon were under pressure to sell players and bring some money in. It’s hard enough to negotiate with them in normal circumstances but now even this deal looks like it could be out of reach for us.

I still think we will end up getting Thomas Partey but that will be that in terms of midfield incomings. May sign a goalkeeper or 2 (if Macey leaves) but I can’t see us strengthening anywhere else this Summer. Elneny’s performances so far might convince Arteta to hold off for another year before spending big in midfield...

like I said above its a complete bluff and we have more than enough to buy them without the need to raise funds through sales.

So we are getting £26m for Emi and Torreira

nope £37m if there is an obligation to buy torreira next season for £11m by torino.

Next season is not soon.
£26m SOON from the sales of Emi and LT as has been the statement from the very beginning.

What you are trying to say is we should be getting £26m soon from the sales, and have the option that we could make that up by asking the bank for an advance on the £11m Torino owe us.

Or, in short, we are getting £26m for Emi and LT soon (if rumours are proved to be true).

we have access £37m if there is an obligation to buy.

We have access to a lot more than that.

'soon'

we could do. as I suspect. but that doesn't take away from the fact the world knows that we have immediate access to £37m from our possible player sales.

Jenius is arguing the only relevant point here - it doesnt matter when we receive the money for Torreira, the fact that they would be obligated to pay it essentially means we can spend the full amount this year if we want. And that's the whole point of where the discussion began right? If we can afford the players we're reportedly after?

Players worth tens of millions of pounds generally aren't bought with cash in the bank. Major transactions at any company take place using credit, which you can get more of if you've got guaranteed future income coming your way. There doesn't need to be "evidence" of Arsenal doing this in the past or that they are planning to do this, it's standard business practice.

DJ is really just arguing petty semantics but he's usually pretty unbeatable at that you have to say.
