James Garner To Watford On Loan

So Watford have announced he’s going there on loan for the season. Could be a good loan for him, providing he gets enough game time.

I’m sure Cleverly and Welbeck will help a fellow academy graduate settle in at the club.

I think it’s too early to say. Whether it’s at United, or elsewhere, different managers will want different things from their midfielders. Could be that he takes his ability to score and create chances to senior level, and is viewed to be more useful further forward.

From a United and England perspective, if he can reach that level, I hope you are right. Ole’s already made comparisons with Carrick, and both teams could really do with that kind of player.

Carrick is an obvious comparison, although Garner is a little more physical and aggressive.

Kroos might be a better comparison, actually. Can patrol in front of the back four, intercept and tackle, can dictate play from the halfway line with a machine-like full range of passing, but also can break forward to be useful at the business end.

He actually strikes the ball a lot like Kroos when he’s playing passes over distance. I wonder if he’s watched a lot of his game.

You just described Paul Scholes.

Finally.

As pleased as I am though I'm concerned given Watford's turnover of managers isn't ordinary.

Hopefully the new man in charge lasts longer than a few months.

I have never created an article/post until now to hype up garner cause anything can happen to talent at his age. As per my username I clearly rate him and hope he gets the game time he clearly needs.

Oh yeah

I think Scholes carried the ball a little better than Kroos and Carrick, and had a magnificent knack of dropping a shoulder and turning or wriggling his way out of challenges in the middle third.

He was also by the tail end of his career, incredibly, on another level in terms of his middle and long range passing to Carrick and Kroos, neither of whom was/is a slouch in those terms.

I wouldn’t want to compare anyone else to Scholes. He was unique in his abilities.

Yeah that’s true.

Swell.

Chris Hughton will be out the door soon at Forest too.
