From what I read, it's not the discount that's the issue.

Ed is willing to pay 108m. But wants to do this via installments and add ons. Dortmund on the other hand want all of it paid in one go.

Really? Before Liverpool signed Jota, would you have thought us spending 45 million on him was a good idea? Tbh I wouldn't. Klopp may well improve him, as he has so many players, but his performances for Wolves were ridiculous as often as they were sublime. Not fussed on us not signing him

Its very very rare for a transfer fee to be paid in full in 1 go. Another reason why the Sancho talk is just nonsense.

Why would Dortmund, a selling club willing to consider the sale, demand £100m plus (a record for us) be paid in 1 go, during a huge football fonancial crisis ???

Because they may just think we're silly enough to do it. They've really not got much to lose this transfer window by trying to push a hard bargain if they sell more on their terms in the end.

It would be a transfer where I'm not too critical of the board though as it's a massive amount of money

My gut feeling is that It'll get done eventually with both parties claiming a win in terns of the deal.
