With the stupid handball rule coming

into force again today, will players suddenly realise that they can take advantage of it if they are anywhere near the penalty area, not necessarily take a shot on, just aim the ball at the arm or the hand. Bingo penalty, and probably a goal without even trying.

This rule needs to be ditched before next season, because I can see it getting seriously abused. The precedent has been set early doors, and instead of players diving now to get a penalty, all they have to do is hit a players hand with the ball, much more easy to do, and they won`t get called a cheat.

Worrying really that the authorities did not see the major flaw in this rule.

We got ultimately screwed with this rule in the champions league final. Its terrible.

I think players will. The rule is applied this way in Europe and Mane even admitted he deliberately kicked the ball at the Tottenham defender's hand to win a penalty in the CL final a couple of seasons ago. That doesn't seem right to me, but you can't blame players for doing it if the rule is being applied in such a daft manner

sad but then we have to learn also. Flick the ball up in the box when possible. its bound to hit an arm.

What is worse is that the ball didn't even directly hit Doherty's arm that stopped an opportunity. It hit Winks foot and then bounced back on to his arm within a few feet of each other.

This is going to be open to such ridiculous abuse. Players will just aim in the vincinity of the arm from point blank range, and they have about a 95 per cent chance of getting a penalty.

It will be great to watch though. Much better than seeing a player take a man on in the box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me, handball has to be intentional, gifting out penalty kicks for fraction of a second ricochets and shots that touch an arm, is pure idiocy.

Go back to the old way, of it is only hand ball if the hand moves towards the ball. There are enough replays these days to decide if 95% of handballs are intentional or not, the 5% that are impossible to decide, just give it as no handball.

That decision today was a farce, as was Palace penalty yesterday. Somehow our inbreddd neighbours got away with a shocking decision yesterday.

If we got away with a “shocking decision” yesterday then what makes the penalty Spurs conceded a farce?
