Ditch sancho

For me we should be looking at strengthening at CB and dm before we start splashing out 100 million on sancho.

Success is built on a good foundation, and defensively we are all over the place.

Yes we need a right winger, but that money could be spent better elsewhere.

The likes of Thomas partey would be ideal, the guy has a 45 million release clause and would give some much needed protection to a vulnerable back 4.

upamecano's release clause kicks in next season, but throw an extra 10 million at Leipzig and get the guy in now.

Big, strong, quick, decent on the ball and solid defensively... waiting till next summer would likely mean he has plenty of clubs to choose from, this should be nailed down sooner rather than later.

That could be 2 important areas tied down with the reported sancho money for quite a few years service

I've felt this way for a while tbh. But we know how much our negotiators love a bit of brinkmanship, so it's just not going to happen. And with that being the case, we will end up bowing to Dortmund's demands anyway, as we'll have placed all our eggs in one basket

Not all the eggs, we have signed Donny

True. Most of the eggs then

pity we messed up the deal with upamecano in 2015 by going back on our agreement re his living arrangments.

I did not realise we missed out on him, I had not paid attention to him before but I like what I see

You definitely need better CBs, Maguire and lindelof are basically Silvestre and squillaci on a bad day

I have been saying for many, many months that we cannot sign Sancho at the cost of strengthening elsewhere in the squad.

We spend the money on Sancho *and* commit funds to strengthening elsewhere on the pitch, or we drop the pursuit and spend his fee across those positions in need of strengthening, including across the supporting line and at CB.

VdB and Sancho won’t be enough, no matter how good Sancho is.

I've not bought into the Sancho hype to be honest and for 100m, I would be expecting someone like the Ronaldo that left United for Madrid.

Have this horrible feeling he will be another Memphis

I suspect lack of inward movement is related to the lack of outward movement when it comes to centre backs.

Tend to agree. I'd like a CB, DM and another forward, ideally RF/RW. Still won't be surprised if we pay the asking price for Shinji Sancho at the eleventh hour and get nobody else.
