Atlético Madrid

Fabrizio Romano has twitted that they want Torreira but only on loan with an option to buy.

What are that smoking over there ffs? So they want us to hand them £45 million for Partey, then they take Torreira for a season and if they don’t fancy him, they are at liberty to send him back to us! Madness.

We value Torreira at £24million; take him, here is another £21million, give us Partey, nice doing business with you.

I’d say to Atlético they can have their loan with an obligation to buy or do a player swap or they can fook off

I can’t help but think arsenal have developed a reputation of being a soft touch in the transfer market.

So many clubs try and mug us off

This "We can't afford 45 mil for Partey," BS really has gone far enough now. Athletico made it clear from the outset, if we wanted Partey, we had to PAY THE CLAUSE! We have come with BS offer after BS offer since. So it's not "what are they smoking," it's how much more of the ps does the Arsenal management wanna take. DO NOT buy into their BS. They're taking the ps way more than Athletico, whose stance has been clear and consitent the whole time.

Buy Partey outright. Give them their loan of Torriera. They can either take him with an obligation to buy next season at the price we've set now. Or option to buy next season, at the price we set THEN! They will take the obligation at today's price. Or next season we get more money or a likely much improved Torriera back to do with as we please. JOB DONE!

Bottom line, if the club is not going to stump up 45 mil, we are not going to get Partey. So instead of slating Athletico, try emailing AFC and demanding as a fan, that the owner/board stump up the CHUMP CHANGE TO THEM, 45 million fee. Just like the FFP rules have been relaxed to allow them to do so.

How about if Torreira suffers a serious injury while he his there on loan on an option.
They get £45million and give us back an injured player?

Its really simple. Call Atletico's bluff.

Buy Aouar. And make it clear if they want Torreira they have to stump up Partey.

Atletico are broke. Their bid for Marc Roca was blocked by Liga because they couldn't prove they had the money. This is why they want Torreira.

That can work too but isn't Aouar more than Partey though. Still comes to the underlying issue of the club must spend money. Time factor means that's now, spend the money and recoup what we can now and in Jan/next summer. Sorry but owner and board MUST be able to scrape together 45 or 60 mil between them to loan their own bloody football club for 1-2 seasons. NO EXCUSE AT ALL for not doing so.

We don't have time to faff, waiting to see who we can sell first or trying to wait a club out to deadline in hope they'll finally accept a swap + chump change deal instead. This is exactly how we've missed out on players window after window for years. And stuff Covid as the excuse for it too beacuse the fact is the club's been conducting it's transfer business this way for most of the last 20 years.

Its not about the money Arsenal can play in the long term. The problem is the cash flow in the short term because of no match day income but still having to pay ridiculous wages to players signed by Wenger. Arsenal can structure a low payment up front for a fixed fee later for Aouar. Lyon may felicitate that especially with Barca pulling out of the move for Depay. Atletico are in a bigger bind. They need/want 2 CMs and striker. They are abt to get Suarez, but can't move for Marc Roca. So Arsenal could help them for Torreira and Roca for Partey but that is far more complicated deal because their financial troubles.
