La Liga clamps down on ridiculous spending

Not sure if this has been posted or not. Didn't see it anywhere.

Why aren't the Spanish giants doing their best to rebuild their squads?

Usually Barça & RM would be cherry picking players from the top European leagues yet have been relatively quiet.

Both Gini & Depay were reportedly on their way to Barça.

It would appear that Barça can't bid for anyone.

They need to get some wages off their books & pay back money (equal to any transfer fees paid) they were loaned by the Spanish government.

Barça currently have an annual wage bill of £510m with RM only £33m behind.
That is both obscene & insane and is very likely to see the rapid decline of both clubs.

So if a club wants to spend 20 mil on a player they also have to pay that to the government?

Surprised our government hasn't been all over that

Because clubs in England haven’t taken any money from the government (two clubs tried but we’re over that)

That and the sky money is keeping all clubs afloat. Remember the Spanish teams don’t have that

La Liga have a much less broadcast deal than the EPL.

I can see Amazon bidding for the PL rights in the future which will bring more revenue.

Amazon wouldn't bid for the Spanish league which is only popular in South America and in some parts of North Africa.

The gap will only become bigger financially.

Don't China tax their player signings 100% of the fee paid?

I think you might be right, but only for foreign players. They are thing to build a league around Chinese players and cut down on teams buying the league by bringing in lots of established foreign names.

One sure fire way to help grass roots football.
