Ole

I think it's about time we judged Ole by his work and the results.
We should leave his behaviour during the match and his attitude to the psychologists.
When he got the job I only knew him as a top player, a failed manager of Cardiff ( where there was a lot of owner interference ) and his success in Norway.

I read what I could find about his time in Molde, it boiled down to that he was intelligent, studied the game, learnt from mistakes and they were sorry he was going.

Since he came here, I am going to ignore the first half season, wonderful and awful, but with not one of his own players. So I decided to judge him on the first full season.
Unlike RDD I think his buys have in the main, been a success, and bear in mind none of the prices paid were his doing.
I think his promotion and handling of the younger players has been exemplary.
The first half was so so, but when he got the midfielder he needed the results were great.
We finished, third, behind two great teams.
Reached two semi finals.
He created a feel good atmosphere in the club and got the players to back him.

So to say he is the worst manager in England is just laughable.

To say he will get sacked is not much of a prediction, nearly everyone does, we need dates, or at least months.

So let's see how the season goes, not crawl out of the woodwork after one or even two losses. Ther's not been a manager made who hasn't lost games they were favourite in.

I don't know how good he is, or how it will end, but just now he has done very well in my eyes.

James wouldn't be a calamity player if he could get a game on the left

------------------------------------------------

The question needs to be raised why we bought Dan James if he's better on the left than on the right given that most of our attackers prefer playing on the left where they can come inside onto their favoured right foot when they're not playing up front.

It's another reason why his signing didn't make much sense and it just strengthens the argument that last summer's transfer window wasn't actually a very good one.

Agreed. Nothing about the singing makes much sense.

Or the signing for that matter...

It was a good one. I would think that he bought James to be understudy for Rashford. But not having a RW means he's been shoehorned in there.
Do I think Ole gets everything right? No, but I'm a retired know nothing.

It was a good one.

In your opinion of course mu52. You don't like it when people state things as fact so you probably shouldn't do it yourself.

Fair comment, except I'm omnipotent so always right, sometimes.

in the main been a success?

Bruno, no question has been a success so far and its too soon to judge VDB, but

Maguire?

AWB?

James ?

Ighalo?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You called all those signings a success before we kicked off against palace

----------------------------------------------------------------------

That doeant mean the majority of United fans agree though does it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it doesn't, but you do, which is the base from where you argue. You can't argue on other people's behalf unless you know it as a fact.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course I can argue what a fanbase think, as much as you or anyone else can.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh well in that case I am quite sure that the vast majority of fans, think that Ole has made very good signings since he arrived. Ceryainly on here and I'm sure on the wider fanbase.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
but that just isn't true is it?

Very highly rated young winger at a reasonable price. Maybe we could have loaned him out from Jan but Ole didnt replace Lukaku or Sanchez so we couldn't afford to

At least as true as your opinion. And I believe more true, there have been many comments saying just that. Difficult though isn't it when you say what the fan base say without any knowledge of it.

I'm happy with the attack he's built. Midfield is decent. Still need a RW but not a necessity with Greenwood available.

The defence however..

Repeatedly chose De Gea for 2 seasons in a row, after making mistake after mistake. Cost us top 4 in his first season and nearly the same this season.

Is he learning?

AWB. Time will tell if he works out. But right now he's not good enough. Great in games where we need to nullify pacy attackers (like against Palace) but useless going forward. Surely Ole knew this?

Maguire. Could have brought 2-3 promising CB's for that money and at least one would have been an improvement. Lack of pace will mean he's never considered a top CB.

Getting rid of smalling was a mistake. Bailly and Smalling are a better partnership than Maguire/Lindeloff. Pace, power, aggression and we can play a higher line.

Lindelof - we all know he is weak. He keeps getting caught out but will never get dropped.

Is Ole learning? Seems like he has a bit of a blind eye to the defence.

Haven't even mentioned his lack of rotation and running players in to the ground.

Anyways, I am still optimistic Ole will learn and get it right. But I don't want a third season of playing catch up and the players being dead on their feet towards the end of the season.
