Shola Shoretire

I read an article on Shola Shoretire yesterday with some quotes from Lee Clark, where he discussed the ability of our youngster:

"I've watched Shola Shoretire when my son Bobby has been down at the academy at Newcastle and played against Man United in the years above,"

"Shola is an unbelievable young talent with fantastic ability. Great pace, great movement. He made his debut this week for the U23s having just turned 16. He's not the biggest but he's powerful and I know the people at United are excited.

"But what they do at United is they don't go overboard officially about players, they keep it in house and under wraps. But they will know they've got a special young talent in their hands without a doubt.

"At first when I heard about him a couple of years ago, I was initially frustrated that Newcastle lost out on one of their own, but it was a scenario that couldn't be helped with his parents being offered jobs down in the Manchester area which they had to take. Unfortunately there's nothing Newcastle could have done about that."

Having only heard his name mentioned in passing, I watched a few Youtube videos of the lad last night to get an idea of how/where he plays. I now feel fully qualified to confirm that with his low centre of gravity, power and guile running with the ball and penchant for the Marseille Roulette, Shola Shoretire is the lovechild of Maradonna and Zidane.

Forget Hannibal Mejbri. This kid is the next big thing! Watch the video below and disagree if you dare.

I await Rosso turning up to impart his knowledge on us.

You are a glutton for punishment.

Why did you mention him on this site? You've just jinxed his entire career. Ja606 article is the doom of many an United Academy prodigy. Should have kept it quiet.

I know this article is a bit tongue in cheek but I'd accept now three more years of mediocrity if then we'd see a United team playing swashbuckling football with the academy graduates as a big part of it.

That's not saying I don't want us to improve now of course but it'd be great seeing that IMO.

With a name like Shola he’s destined for big things.

I read about this kid a while back. He made his debut in the UEFA Youth League when he was 14.

So we could have Shola Shoretire on the LW and Luke Sparetire at LB.

I have to be honest and admit that:
a) I had never heard of Shola Shoretire; and
b) at first I thought the OP was winding us up. Some of those shots early in the video

I remember seeing Shoretire live for the first time at the Milk Cup in 2017 where he was playing a couple of years above his age group at just 13.

Stood out along with some familiar names in Teden Mengi and Anthony Elanga.

Not too many of that squad are still at United.

He must be pretty decent if he is playing with the U23s already. And also able to handle himself physically.
